Trump isn't targeting drug smugglers. Venezuela isn't a major supplier of drugs to the US. This is entirely a pretext for a coup and/or a display of gratuitous cruelty against people who often aren't drug smugglers or Venezuelans.

First, many SNAP recipients have jobs. They’re just living below the poverty line because of tremendous wealth inequality.

Second, many are disabled and children and can’t work.
