That is absolutely incredible.

Terrible start, who?

I saw this on the other place. A slight deflection that wrong foots him yesterday would have completely changed the game. Shows how fine the margins are sometimes.

My workplace has been trialling various AI tools. Some of them have code generation as a feature. I recommended setting a policy for that at least. I think juniors having access to chat isn't as big a deal as blindly accepting transformations.

No one said this except Everton fans who thought Jelavic was better.

If Suarez never scored a goal he'd still be worth a spot in the team. His dribbling and creativity had the opposition in a panic.

Nunez can't trap a ball or complete a simple pass. Comparing him to Suarez is an insult.

Has scored 20 league goals once. He failed to break double figures 3 times. And in the remaining season he only scored 11.

He's not unlucky. It's not a bad streak. He can't finish. The only comparison he has with Suarez is that they are both Uruguayan

Suarez had a season in an awful team where he had to beat 3 players to get a shot off, where he hit the woodwork a remarkable amount of times.
He had a proven track record of insane output for years before that. And carried it on after that one season. Nunez is in his 5th top flight season and...

Just give the lower leagues sides the choice of selling their home advantage. Few quid in the kitty for doing so, and extra gate receipts. And they don't have to if they don't want to. Everyone's a winner.

Would I sell the player who can't finish, to the team chasing us, who can't score?

Absolutely. It removes an anchor around our necks and stops them from signing someone who can take them up a level.

Arsenal fans keep talking about how Liverpool haven't played anyone yet, and how we'll drop points away. They have 2 wins in 10 against the top half

All fair enough, but he doesn't get to do this and get the Firmino like send off he wants.

The weirdest thing about this was the first angle they used had a great view of Salah and ball. They adjusted frames until they got one where Salah makes the pass. Then when they switch angles to get a better view of Nunez, they start readjusting the frames again. It's bizarre

Thank you! I was trying to get this the other day and must have tried 10-15 sites with no luck

What website is this?

They honestly just make it up as they go along. I remember Suarez rounding the keeper once and being fouled, but there was no red as 'the ball was moving away from goal'. Yes because he just rounded the keeper and was about to tap it into an empty net 😂

Why is there even talk of if VVD can make it or not? He doesn't. He can't catch up before Jimenez gets it. So it's irrelevant surely? I haven't seen a single Liverpool fan in disagreement with the red.

I think I will at some point. It would make an interesting article. I guess it would change the discourse from 'bad finisher' to 'not clutch'.
I'm a front end guy though, I'll need to do some digging into scraping!

Hey Ted, do companies classify their xg data per game category? E.g. knockout stages of the CL. I definitely remember thinking Cavani was a poor finisher, but I only ever saw him in those big games. I wonder if there is a correlation in mainstream opinion and bigger games.

I'll take it 😁

My theory is he just doesn't have the technical ability to hold onto the ball and link ball. So he has to drop deep to get involved, meaning he isn't in the box when needed. And the times he stays uninvolved, he ends up offside.

Good thread. I looked at Slots Feyenoord a few weeks back. Our wingers are taking less shots than their wingers so it's a not a system problem starving him. Gimenez had high shot numbers despite the wingers. When you look at the heatmaps the system looks the same. Except Nunez is standing CM

Hopefully they lose!

Points on the board are better than games in hand. If Arsenal and City close the gap today it might spark some belief and momentum for them.

Salah is the least “fouled” forward in the league since joining Liverpool

Lost all the duels basically, but it's impossible when one team is allowed to foul and the other gets booked for the slightest touch.

You've been smashing the data stuff out of the park this past while Andrew

Just added this...

Every single day there's a new caveat about Liverpool. Can't wait to see this debunked - the sample size is too small or something.

This is my argument for renewing. Even if he falls off entirely, we're still quids in with him over his tenure. And Mo's not the type to ride the bench. With his marketability he'll be easy to move on if it comes to it. The worst case scenario isn't even a big problem. Just renew him.
