Of course it didn't regulate Fox. You missed my point. "Read" what happened the very day FD ended. It was an unleashing that opened the way to the culture we now find ourselves in. There's a huge difference between the bullshit before and what we have now. I was active in media when it happened.

But once it was eliminated, Rush Limbaugh reflected (as close to possible as I remember), "We no longer have to rely on facts." Again, there were problems but rather than addressing and correcting them, it was eliminated paving the pathway to Fox.

FD was not perfect and you right to point out concerns. But FD attempted to assure that contrasting views were fairly presented. Yes, there were problems and various administrations sought to take advantage of it.

So the mentor for Project 2025 is experiencing problems in his "soft fascist" country beyond the reality that their economy is a mess.

Trump: "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven."

No Kings Day is almost here.

The Trump regime believes that if it can overwhelm us with atrocities and threats, we'll surrender our rights without fighting for them.

But the people won’t bow down. We will rise. Join us at a peaceful protest on Saturday: www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i... #NoKings

Thiel is infatuated with the antichrist story. Very strange. He might do better reading Vladmir Soloviev's "The Story of the Antichrist". This Russian mystic is a better story teller and actually has some deep moral convictions.

Some of you are missing his style of humor. It's called sarcasm. I know things are dire but sometimes it's good to lighten up!

Talk about town is billionaire Palantir founder Peter Thiel.

Not saying he’s the Antichrist—
but calling a 20-something autistic activist the Antichrist?
Sounds like the kinda thing the Antichrist would do. More ⬇️

Here's a rule of thumb: If "AI" seems like a good solution, you are probably both misjudging what the "AI" can do and misframing the problem.

Comment by Tom Diettrich on a linkedin post reading:

"You can't "test-in quality" in engineering; you can't "review-in quality" in research. We need incentives for people to do better research. Our system today assumes that 75% of submitted papers are low quality, and it is probably right (I'll bet it is higher). If this were a manufacturing organization, an 75% defect rate would result in bankruptcy.

Imagine a world in which you could have an AI system check the correctness/quality of your paper. If your paper passed that bar, then it could be published (say, on arXiv). Subsequent human review could assess its importance to the field.

In such a system, authors would be incentivized to satisfy the AI system. This will lead to searching for exploits in the AI system. A possible solution is to select the AI evaluator at random from a large pool and limit the number of permitted submissions. I imagine our colleagues in mechanism design can improve on this idea."

between this and the reports of proposed data centers that will consume more energy than the entire population of nyc, i just want to revisit this bit by james landay from a million years ago, back in .... ah, march 2025
What’s more, the idea that AI’s power demands will keep growing at the rates they have been recently is unrealistic, says James Landay, codirector of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. AI companies have an economic incentive to use power more efficiently. The recently released DeepSeek model indicated that robust models can be built with less power and therefore at a lower cost, he says. Many companies in the industry are already following DeepSeek’s lead, working on ways to make their models more efficient, he says.
