Here in Atlanta yesterday, more than 2,000 people waited in their cars—one woman for 14 hours—for a box of food. The giveaway ended early; there wasn't enough to go around.

Multiply this scene by countless others across the country, and you get a sense of how crushing the desperation is right now.

Raise your hand if your brain is sufficiently capable of complex thought to understand why advocating an explicitly Christian volunteer military is not ideal.
Add a dose of propaganda to your morning coffee.. This smells of Russian-like “special operation”

Quite a lede on this remembrance by Bill Brink about his father's authorship of the iconic @nydailynews.com headline after President Ford denied federal aid to help NYC avoid bankruptcy 50 years ago last week:

OMG There was ACTUALLY a Gatsby party at Mar-a-lago. This is why you can't do satire anymore.

A thing I think about constantly is how exhausting it must be to be, for instance, the person who has to explain you can learn as much if not more from simulating a nuclear test on a big computer than from an actual nuclear test and how this works in our favor because we have really big computers.

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

You can’t even use SNAP to buy a hot rotisserie chicken unless you live in a state with a special waiver.
ROB SCHMITT: People are using SNAP benefits to get their nails done, to get their weaves and their hair. This is a really ugly program.

SEN. RON JOHNSON: That program needs to be dramatically reformed.

According to a complaint filed in federal court after the incident, a federal agent violated an existing court order (against using excessive force on journalists and demonstrators) by pointing a gun in a veteran’s face, saying “Bang, bang” and “You’re dead, liberal.” trib.al/rTk2Z8c

On this day 225 years ago, John Adams moved into the still-not-quite-complete White House, becoming the first president to occupy it. His blessing was carved into the State Dining Room mantel in 1945: "May none but Honest and Wise Men ever rule under This Roof.”
So many scenes like this, in so many previously peaceful neighborhoods…
ICE is snatching people in Skokie today, with Bovino mugging for cameras. Proud of my neighbors for standing up to this menace.
