Legendary Vampire Hunter Richter Belmont confronts Dracula, Prince of Evil in his twisted Castlevania. Having had enough chit chat, Vlad cattily tosses an empty wine glass, shattering it upon the opulent marble floor of his throne room.

After a traditional first round of combat, Dracula abandons all pretense that he isn't an abominable monster and reveals his true, demonic form. Richter goes balls out and summons the power of Christ himself to smite the Lord of Darkness.

In the present, Alucard, rebellious son of Dracula, has risen from his slumber and rushes to Castlevania, sensing that his father has been resurrected and needs another ass-whipping. Lightning strikes in the distance, setting a grave tone.

Immediately inside the front gate of Castlevania, Alucard meets a gigantic worg-- and dispatches it cleanly with an expert sword strike. His dope cape fans out behind him.

I usually go a few years between SOTN playthroughs, and in that time I slowly forget that it's one of the most fun games ever made.

Then I start playing it and immediately remember that it is in fact one of the most fun games ever made.
