I'm not ready to talk about the sci-fi novel I'm writing in too much detail yet, but here's a meme about what it's inspired by without any further context

I'm not under the illusion that ICE has ever been a noble and well-intentioned organization, so you're probably right in general. That said, I don't think that's reason to dismiss the possibility of ICE deliberately recruiting from fascist militia groups.

I'm not saying ICE was a noble and uncorrupted organization before this administration, I've always supported dismantling it in its entirety. This is just another reason to do that.

I fully believe the theory that's going around that ICE has deliberately been recruiting from far-right militia groups, and the masking and refusal to identify ICE agents have been doing is an attempt to obscure that fact as opposed to being intended to "protect" them.

I haven't seen anyone get called a doomer just for warning about what this administration wants to do. However, I've literally seen people say "they've already won" and that it's "too dangerous" to push back anymore, and I don't know what to call that other than doomerism.

I'm aware of the harm this regime is doing, there's a reason why I rail so hard against it.

The point of this post isn't to dismiss the harm, but rather to dismiss the idea that their capacity to inflict harm means they can't be defeated, and that it's not worth the risk to oppose them.
