Friends, I was at the grocery store today when a lovely older man approached me with a bunch of carnations in his basket & handed me one. I smiled & thanked him. He said, don’t you want to know why? I said, yes please. It was his wife’s birthday. She had been gone “a while.” We proceeded to chat. 1/

Referring someone to the bar is having the state (or DC if licensed there) board of bar examiners review the complaint, investigate & then impose punishment. In this case, most bars should disbar under the ethics rules. Like Giuliani. Of course, her license is in FL, so who knows what they’d do.

Hubs started baking in earnest when he lost his job. His baguettes & bagels are way better than anything local or commercial.

That said, there is a PHENOMENAL croissant bakery near that we frequent that feels overpriced but I pay it because they are amazing & ain’t nobody got the time to do that.

NGL. I wouldn’t mind them not being paid, but with Trump’s Oval comments today, he made it clear that they will pay them, just maybe not anyone else.

Also, most of those “agents” would probably do it for free because they enjoy the depravity of it & they think it’s still owning the libs.

Additionally, furloughed workers are required to request permission to get another job in the interim. It has to be approved by ethics officials, most of which are furloughed. Even if someone else can approve, that takes time. Unemployment benefits vary by state. That takes time. Bills don’t stop.

Pain. Stress. More will quit. It’s not worth it if your employer consistently ducks its obligations & scapegoats you.

Those that stay will also be under tremendous pressure.

A lot of feds live paycheck to paycheck. They’re not getting a full check on Friday as it is.

So even tho the law exists, if the WH decides not to cut checks once the govt reopens, they will have to sue & that will take a long time to resolve. There will be serious financial impacts on them.

OPM can declare an individual who participates in a strike against the US unsuitable for federal employment, forever.

So if they try, they get hit with a felony & lose the opportunity to ever work for the government again.

They can’t. 5 USC§7311, feds cannot participate in a strike, assert the right, or even belong to a union that asserts the right to strike. 18 USC§1918 makes it a felony to strike against the US or belong to a union that asserts the right to strike against the US.

I live in SFL. I have a few friends that did work at the Doral property. He broke the contracts & stiffed them. They sued, but as small companies/independents couldn’t afford drawn out litigation. One settled for pennies on the dollar & closed the business, then declared bankruptcy. It destroyed him
