Friends, I was at the grocery store today when a lovely older man approached me with a bunch of carnations in his basket & handed me one. I smiled & thanked him. He said, don’t you want to know why? I said, yes please. It was his wife’s birthday. She had been gone “a while.” We proceeded to chat. 1/

If people are finding out as a late as now how Trumpism is wannabe fascism, they should be accepted in a big pro-democracy, pro-pluralism, pro-equality tent. Their belated dissent is welcome. Democracy is in danger and this is not the time for the usual holier-than-thou approach!

This is why winning the midterms itself isn't a strategy. Trump plans to ignore the results. Acknowledging this doesn't make you a doomer, but it does mean you have to plan for worst case scenarios. We gotta be ready, especially since they're telling us the plan outright.

IMO, all coverage of this international humiliation should start and end with the point that Article 5 has only been activated once, when every NATO member came to the defense of the US after 9/11. Trump's claims today were beyond offensive, and every American should be embarrassed by them.
