as to the workplace, idk maybe there's been a change because of the changes in the classroom. but there could be other factors too e.g. higher proportion of the population working in office jobs now. but if it's different to other countries then maybe it is the education ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

in that it'd be corrected if you wrote it in your copybook I spose, but yeah it's fuckin wild they never teach english grammar (i also only know anything about it because of learning other languages even to a low level)

depends on the mistake as well, like 'would of' could confuse a non native speaker so better to get that one right, while that hanging preposition rule was invented by latin-obsessed grammarians in the 18th-ish century & is one that imo we should take no notice of

well it does. but also i wouldn't describe people not bothering to correct people when their meaning is still clear as giving up exactly, it's still taught the way it's taught & most people get it right most of the time
