Look I've been holding off from months asking this on Bluesky because of my pride but I need help.

My car needs brakes, my rent is past due and my step kid needs shoes.

I hate having to ask this

Lee, Li, Huang, Wong, Zheng, Zhang. I'm sure there are even further-apart ones. I even knew a girl growing up whose grandparents apparently had a random extra character added to their last name at some point by someone because there were too many Lees around that day.

has anyone written a protest song yet that just completely avoids the fourth scale degree

Great points. We should also replace learning music with learning how to send inane professional emails about nothing back and forth forever, and replace foreign language study with eating glass

For example, see the excision of them from early Dickinson editions—her use of them is so rhythmic and intentional, and they're most often scrubbed to conform to hymn meter. As she wrote them, though, they're these places where rhythm breaks and emotion overflows (see "Her—last Poems—" especially).

I do need to figure out how to re-waterproof my trench coat. It wasn't cheap, but it somehow all got washed off, and now it's just Hooded Damp Thing. Really killing the vibe

Not sure if I'm exactly in the much-fussed-over San Francisco Doom Loop or just close to it, but I walked home from a Rocky Horror showing last night after midnight without even a hint of a whisper of a problem. I'm sure the "Doom Loop" will be back in the news cycle soon, and it's as fake as ever.
