In light of the Trump/Musk circus, let me remind you of your favourite Romanian language fact:

When someone throws stupid tantrums hurting their own interests just for the sake of being an ahole, we say they hit their own testicles with an adze (carpentry tool). The Romanian word for adze is Tesla.

Yeah, and that has a lot to do with social care. My husband's Grandma for example stayed in hospital for far longer than she needed because it was so hard to find her a care home place. (She was didn't even need a nursing home, just regular care home).

Would be curious also how good 111 is at sending you to the right place.

Part of the reason many Germans supported the Nazis was that there really was a lot of violence in the streets & they wanted order. But much of that violence was carried out by the Nazi paramilitary SA.

So the Nazis presented themselves as the solution to a problem they intentionally created

That's a bit more ambiguous, but still not sure it's a "you should go to the same place where people with heart attacks go" situation, a more GP-like out of hours/walk-in centre could still be equipped to give scans and drip antibiotics.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
The other time I went to A&E in the past years was when I had a UTI spread to my kidneys, and I needed antibiotics on a drip. They also initially thought I may have needed a scan to see if I don't have kidney stones, but didn't end up having one.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
In situations like this, there really should be some kind of out of hours medical facility where you can pop in & get a tetanus shot, antibiotics and quick check-up that is NOT the same place where people with heart attacks go.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
One time I was bitten by a dog- drew a bit of blood. Initially 111 told me to go to A&E. I managed to get away with not going - they just sent antibiotics to the open late pharmacy in my neighborhood. That was bc I had a tetanus shot a few years back to travel to Morocco though.

Experiences off the top of my head.

I had a concerning symptom at 18 weeks of pregnancy - the kind of thing that could be harmless or really bad - needed checking. (Was harmless). Really appreciated that the antenatal maternity unit was separate from A&E - saw midwife in 20 mins & Dr in one hour.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
I do wonder if we don't need more levels of urgent care rather than just A&E - for lesser severity as well as more specialised.

Namely - if you break your arm, should you really go to the same place where people with heart attacks go?

Yeah TBH I don't see where she could have learned to make better decisions. I'm guessing the author was going for "everybody sucks because we live in a society" - but still incredibly tedious.

Or even no tie and the shirt in a solid colour, no pattern - but, like, a fun colour, not white.

That's the main thing that made me dislike the book. "The heroine doesn't encounter anyone who doesn't suck for the entire book, and then gets a downer ending" ultimately makes for boring reading.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
So with you on Angel. F'ing toxic victim blamer.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
Yeah I agree. The main thing I remember about it is finding the love interest guy kinda just as infuriating as the villain.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
Also the white shirt with the tie looks a bit too formal with the trousers, not sure @dieworkwear.bsky.social would approve.

It's interesting to think of your definition of "The worst PM" though.

My picks would be:

Boris: Worst person /most morally bad.
Truss: Worst at being PM / most incompetent.
Cameron: Strongest & most lasting negative impact.
ralucahippie.bsky.social
Why should there be a contradiction between "profound" and "funny" though? Authors like Adams and Pratchett are great specifically because they do profound AND funny.

Once met Jeremy Corbyn, when he was just an MP, at a local Finsbury Park event. He brought me sandwiches from the buffet.

Met Sadiq Khan when he was just an MP, he complimented my look.

Met Keir Starmer when he was just an MP, listened to me about cancer awareness campaign.

I'm available too.

Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

Ultimately, by being weird and awkward you filter for dates/friends/communities whose specific brand of weird and awkward is compatible with yours. Those guys try to use AI to make themselves into something they are not.

I turned to the Sweetie & asked him "Hmmm, are dating apps worse than back when we were on them?" only to realise "Oh no, we've reach the age when we say Back In Our Day". And went to see Skunk Anansie live we got the sit-down tickets. And I wear Boden dresses.

Crap. I think we may be middle aged.
