When I was young, I worked at Sierra and watched it get sold and run into the ground.

Then I worked at Humongous and watched it get sold and run into the ground.

Worked at a few more places, and eventually burned out of the industry.

Now I do games stuff for fun, and it’s far more satisfying.

Just watched this fantastic documentary released in 2017 about the 1967 Patrick McGoohan series 'The Prisoner'.

Mistigram: this #monochrome #teletext portrait of the late #GeneWilder as the titular character in Mel Brooks' 1974 #YoungFrankenstein was drawn by @horsenburger.bsky.social and included in the spooky MIST1024 artpack collection released one year ago this month.
A moustached man with wild hair and eyes wearing a stethoscope exclaims under dramatic lighting that it's alive!

I suspect that there's no formal link between them, but that the latter was very much influenced by the former, including and especially the name.

I do reallly like this, but it's maybe too blue. I've really enjoyed the colour palettes you've been choosing overall, this included. I really like the blue, but I might suggest going more towards the grey that you had been doing. Not the full grey as before, but maybe a halfway point.

I really enjoy your streams and you still have my subscription. I only don't show up for streams as often as I'd like because of the time difference.

I never responded to this! Apologies! When I was calling BBSes in the '90s, the one I called that had Arrowbridge only had the 1st one. I learned about the sequel a few years ago but I haven't tried it yet as I want to play the original first. I'm sure I don't need to but it's how my brain is wired.

Lucas is just like "Are you serious? Are we being serious here?" 😂

Right up there with scolding average people for using air conditioning in an increasingly warmer world.

This post is a lot more than just playing the game as this skeet implies. He also provides a lot of historical background that's quite interesting.

in which I embark on Infocom's wildly ambitious Suspended, where you are in partial cryofreeze and can only communicate with the world using six robots, each with their own abilities and methods of communicating

Suspended (1983)
A bicycle can get you from New York to LA, so will a jet plane. In one sense they are the exact same thing; in another they are nothing alike. In one sense we are working within traditional genres …

I don't know where I got this Mac BNC network adapter — probably from one of the CCs I bought around 20 years ago, judging from the PDS connector — but it's kinda interesting. It's got a socket for an FPU for some reason, and there's whatever the hell this component is in U10.
Photo of an Asante Mac network adapter from 1993. Closeup of the back side of the component at U10. The markings read:

The websites asking you to turn off your adblocker sound like forest spirits asking you to break the salt circle around your cabin.
You can trust these spirits, they're not going to steal your body! Come on!

@rob-sheridan.com For some reason I thought you should see this.

Very funny to say "if you don't like our moderation you can just leave! It's decentralized!" then issue a nonsense, unexplainable suspension on a blacksky user, thus cutting him off from almost all of his followers anyway

It's a little surprising that there's not a boxed meal in Fallout called Fission Chips.

I really like SyncTERM and have been using it for a few years now, but I think I'm gonna give IcyTERM a spin. It supports RIPscrip, which is something I never experienced and probably should. It also has some other features that look like they'd be fun to play with.

“Advocates are particularly concerned over the facilities’ use of Pfas gas, or f-gas, which can be potent greenhouse gases, and may mean datacenters’ climate impact is worse than previously thought. Other f-gases turn into a type of dangerous compound that is rapidly accumulating across the globe.”
