Florida’s surgeon general’s anti-vax beliefs are only the tip of a very deeply weird iceberg.

Joseph Ladapo’s guiding voice? His wife, who believes she can talk to “Archangel Michael, Mary Magdalene, and many other beings of light.”
From medicine to mysticism: the radicalization of Florida's top doc
Joseph Ladapo was a normie—until he met his wife and a guru into levitating and communicating with spirits.

If China’s smart, they’ll resurrect the “Confucius Peace Prize” and give it to Trump to salve his wounded ego.

Previous winners include Vladimir Putin, Robert Mugabe and Hun Sen…

Dear Mark what an awful story! It reminds me of a story from my Fathers 6 years of WWII.
Major Petepiece had his troops drop rocks (instead of grenades)down a dyke in Holland to scare young Hitler youth attackers.Dad was sick of the killing as war was winding down.

“As the ceasefire approached, the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip continued until the last moment, targeting homes and refugee camps, like a war machine insisting on leaving its final mark before a long silence”

On the dog walk in the neighbourhood Friday night, ran into a couple & their dog. After the usual pet patter, found out they’d just moved into their new Toronto home that day after driving from San Francisco. The husband who’s in the green energy industry, joked “we’re defecting.” 🇨🇦

Mahdis worked *very* hard to reveal that speed cameras in most GTA municipalities don’t ticket drivers unless they are speeding at least 11 km-h over the limit, debunking @fordnation’s claims that people get dinged at 2 or 3 over t.co/k8GhfqY9O9

"As usual, Trump has declared an all-out war on facts. He describes the partial assent – with many caveats – to the cease-fire he proposed earlier this week as good news, while marching on with the hostage deal and assuming that no one will dare stop him."
Trump, ignoring Hamas and Israel's reservations, seeks to bend Gaza's reality to his will

The situation – Russian drones in the sky, and the front line of the war now less than 70 kilometres away from Pavlohrad – was not exactly how Tetyana Kotenko would have planned to have her first child, but she was excited nonetheless.
realdougpetepiece.bsky.social
Sixteen hours before Sasha Kotenko was born, his mother was pacing the floor of her hospital room, trying to ignore the air-raid siren that sounded over the central Ukrainian city of Pavlohrad almost as soon as she had gone into labour.

Life, death - and just carrying on - in a Ukrainian city as the war gets closer.

A week in the life of Pavlohrad, a city bracing for its turn on the frontline if Pokrovsk, an hour's drive to the east, falls.

My report, with amazing photography by @olgaivashchenko.bsky.social
This Ukrainian city isn’t on the front lines yet. If that changes, everything changes
Pavlohrad is bracing for the day it turns into another Mariupol or Bakhmut. The Globe went there to see how locals feel – and what hard choices they might face if the Russians come

Projects slashed. Layoffs threatened. Russ Vought looming

It took President Trump fewer than 24 hours to turn a shutdown into a weapon wielded against the civil servants and opposing party he has long derided www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
