Also re: media showing up on camera; remember that photography is its own art, and stuff like reflective paint is going to show up different with different light and camera angles! That can make them hard to capture but also means that there's a lot of artistic licence in HOW you photo and edit them

I already said I agree that this is a terrible way to distribute these, but not only WILL there be more ways to obtain them in the future, but this is far from the worst example! It's annoying, not gamebreaking. Not everything is a life or death battle over digital preservation!

This isn't even the worst approach to distribution from Pokémon THIS YEAR. They're STILL doing in-store code distribution for some forms!

As for the infrastructure, it would be independent of the formfactor. Just irrelevant.

Given Switch 1+2 share their infrastructure, that's not likely to happen for a decade+, while they said further ways to obtain them would come about.

That said, I absolutely hate the way they're choosing to distribute these initially.

They've been using them for animation and design for a while, such as Mario Wonder.

Plus, Pikmin Short Movies were made by Dynamo Pictures - now Nintendo Pictures, so these are more of "that".

But wow do I hate the vibe compared to the short movies lol

It's actually kinda crazy to me.

3's heroes were basically the apex of Koppai, a botanist tasked with finding edible fruit, enough to save her entire planet.

An engineer made to keep a tiny interstellar working for weeks.

And a captain with the social skills to stop them putting heads.
