I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. We’ll never know the extent of it because Hispanic Americans will now be much less likely to report crimes or come forward as witnesses. Local law enforcement has struggled with this issue for years and ICE’s reign of terror has multiplied it 100 fold.

ICE is probably causing an increase in crime.

I’m not referring to the many crimes committed by ICE officers—though one certainly could—but to how they’ve enabled criminals by giving them opportunities to impersonate masked ICE officers and by pulling cops off of police work to do harassment.

Threatening to falsely arrest and criminally charge an American citizen for exercising their fundamental rights is at a minimum, harassment, which is an actionable tort in state court. This incident is part of a much larger partner of lawlessness which must be brought before the federal courts.

Every American should be taught this in school. Columbus was a genocidal monster even by the standards of his day. The fact we hold him as a heroic figure with a holiday is embarrassing. Granted, the Trump admin would claim the Spanish Crown was “woke” for holding Columbus accountable for his crimes

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

If Mamdani wins, he direct NYPD to notify every officer who said they would quit that they have 24 hours to follow through on their resignation or be fired. He should treat their statement as a resignation and also an action of insubordination undermining public confidence in law enforcement.

Threatening to arrest and drag you handcuffed to a courtroom is a clear violation of your 1st amendment rights. Contact an attorney and file a federal tort claims act notice. 90 days after that you can file suit. The Trump admin must be held accountable for every civil rights violation.
