Now that the local and national press have started to cover the Portland ICE area round-the-clock in reaction to the President, Antifa have devised a plan where they are encouraging one another to come in animal costumes.

The costumes serve the function of masking the violent extremism to make the direct action appear like a family-friendly gathering on camera, and to whitewash the past ultraviolence.

In 2019, Antifa devised a similar plot by giving out free "milkshakes" at a protest. But they couldn't contain their bloodthirst and nearly killed me when they saw me. In 2020, they mobilized a fake "Wall of Moms" where female Antifa supporters and members wore yellow shirts to act as human body shields while violent rioters behind them hurled projectile weapons.

I'd really appreciate if writers these days took a look at their characters doing therapyspeak and whether that's appropriate for their work and their world.

By "therapyspeak" I mean speaking like this: "This is the emotion I'm feeling, and feeling that emotion makes me want to act in a way"

They struggle with the ability to handle it being complicated. No one has to make them all 3 hug or F. For the story to be amazing. It already was! As is! I really hate when fan bases do this. Let “them” solve their own problems or don’t!

Someone at the TVL NYCC panel asked if the writers had considered "solving" the louis-lestat-armand love triangle with a throuple and the response was an emphatic NO (lol) and i have a take brewing that readers/fans are drawn to imagining solutions where writers are more about loving problems

which is why fandom as a site of exchange between writers and readers/fans is also a site of contestation. some fans really seem to hate the creators of the thing they love, as if they resent their power to impose problems. even when they don't there's for sure a kind of jockeying that goes on

I agree with your point, but will riff off of it to say: people don’t spend enough time thinking about what’s the most bad-faith way someone could interpret the thing I’m saying, and if that would be a bad interpretation then maybe I shouldn’t say it. That’s where Link made his mistake.
