Midnight. A light flickers on in the darkness. Coils of smoke hang in the projector's glow. The movie is about to begin, and the theater waits in breathless silence.

BLACK FLAME is finally here. You can get it at the link below, and wherever books are sold.

Chiropractors and homeopaths are at best deluded shmucks endangering their patients with useless/dangerous hokum, and at worst malicious parasites destroying the lives and bodies of people in their care for money.
Chiropractors are absolutely doctors. Just like someone who has a doctorate in humanities, or education, is a doctor.

I can tell you didn’t make it through college.

The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires (1974). Shaw Brothers and Hammer meet and create a secret third thing that doesn't quite hang together but has a lot to like in it. Definitely make note of this one, Big Trouble in Little China fans.

Bob Crumb coming out of retirement just to say "RFK Jr. is right about vaccines and my ex-wife should've taken more advice from me" is such a fitting end to Boomer Americana and everything the "alt-comix" movement claimed to stand for

In terms of what’s understood to be socially acceptable behavior, normalizing the filming/taking pictures of people in public who are minding their own business (and putting it online) is one of the worst developments of the past 15 years.

I strongly disagree with Ian in that I think the intention to make work *should* garauntee a thriving living. I also think that's something that online games culture, by and large, does not care very much about.

As someone who's a lot friendlier to the possibilities of videogames as a narrative art form than Ian is, I think he's completely right about this
I’m going to get in trouble for this, but fuck it.

I’ve been at this a long time. Games culture wants the spoils of cultural sophistication without doing the work. It wants a guarantee that the intention to make work guarantees not just a living but a thriving one. It is a medium for children.
Despite the controversy, Horses is only shocking if you're unfamiliar with the history movies, theater, literature, or basically any art form that does not have stats. aftermath.site/horses-indie-g...

Thinking about UNCLE SLAYER again.

bsky.app/profile/scum...
I've entered a loop in which thinking a lot about the time I dreamed about going to see a movie called UNCLE SLAYER (tagline: Everyone Is Somebody's Uncle) causes UNCLE SLAYER to recur in my dreams, which causes me to think more about UNCLE SLAYER, a completely fake movie that does not exist.

No big deal just one of my favorite writers listing BLACK FLAME as one of her favorite books of 2025
Black Flame by @scumbelievable.bsky.social for its unflinching look at lost texts and lost queers, an awful period in history and how long the shadow of a genocide really is. Possibly her best novel.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has died. Bummer news.

I mean, what do you even need to say about his performance as Shang Tsung? Iconic.

a real aficionado of junk food art is comfortable with their tastes and also engages with art outside that bubble. an insecure lover of junk rages and whines at anything they perceive as more rarefied and demands culture recognize and praise their chosen slop.
