Hurricane Melissa recently made landfall over Jamaica and is a devastating storm. My thoughts are with the people of Jamaica and their family and loved ones in Westchester and the Bronx at this uncertain time. In the coming days, my office is here to assist however we can.
A couple in White Plains making $85,000/year will see their healthcare premiums increase by $1,100/month w/o the ACA tax credits. Another example of families being squeezed by rising costs due to House GOP inaction. It's past time to negotiate on healthcare tax credits and reopen the government.
Getting my annual flu vaccine helps keep me healthy throughout the winter season. Science > skepticism.
Inflation is up 3% from a year ago. Economists predict the Trump administration’s tariff agenda could raise consumer prices more in the months ahead. He promised lower costs on Day 1. It’s been 10 months. It’s time for Congress to step up and act to bring costs down. www.npr.org/2025/10/24/n...
Inflation ticked up 3% in September, the U.S. belatedly reports
The federal government recalled some furloughed workers specifically to produce the inflation report, which plays a key role for Social Security beneficiaries.

In July, Trump and Republicans cut food assistance in their Big Ugly Bill. Now, they're putting these benefits at further risk for 2.9 million New Yorkers by refusing to reopen the government. It's time for Republicans to come to the table and negotiate. www.fox5ny.com/news/snap-be...
SNAP benefits in New York could be delayed if federal shutdown continues
New York officials are warning that if the federal government shutdown drags into November, millions of residents who rely on SNAP food assistance or home-heating support could face delays in receivin...

According to KFF, healthcare premiums in our district will increase on average by 230% if we don’t take action to extend the ACA tax credits. Families and small business owners are getting squeezed by rising costs. We must address these premiums before it’s too late.
Today my staff attended the Westchester County Diverse Ability Job and Resource Fair. They were able to provide information to attendees who may need assistance with the VA, IRS, and Social Security. It is always great to partner with the County on this impactful event.
The Republican majority has cancelled votes for the last month and time is running out before ACA tax credits expire. New York is one of the first states to send out premium notices. If you have received one and seen it increase, I hope you will share it with us here: forms.gle/YFXmEMrbnynS...
Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating in Westchester and the Bronx. May your holiday be filled with joy and light!
Today I joined hundreds of neighbors at No Kings rallies in New Rochelle and Larchmont. The message was clear: Americans do not want a despot. We believe our leaders should abide by the Constitution and uphold the rule of law.
Trump needs to realize that American’s ability to provide for their families means more than just collateral damage in his political games.
Donald Trump’s decision to cancel the Gateway Project - already under construction - is all about political spite and revenge. Vengeance on Chuck Schumer means more to him than the millions of commuters who travel between states in the economic capital of this country.
The government is shut down. Millions stand to lose their healthcare or pay double for premiums. Meanwhile, Trump is handing $40 billion to his friend in Argentina. His priorities couldn't be clearer: Trump first, America last.
The Trump administration is working on an additional $20 billion support package for Argentina. If completed, it would bring the total price tag of a U.S. backstop plan for Buenos Aires to $40 billion.
U.S. support for Argentina could hit $40 billion
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said an additional $20 billion in private-sector loans for Argentina could effectively double the value of a U.S. rescue plan.

An update from DC: I am here with my colleagues demanding our Republican colleagues come to back to DC to end this shutdown and work with us to make healthcare more affordable.
Even though the Republican majority cancelled votes again this week, I’m on the train to DC to work on extending the ACA tax credits and reopening the government. My Dem colleagues and I are ready to get to work on negotiations. It’s time for Republicans to come to the table.
This past weekend I attended the New Rochelle Italian American Heritage Month event at City Hall, as well as other Columbus Day activities in the district. This Columbus Day, we celebrate the great civic and cultural contributions made to our nation by Italian Americans.
Our brave military personnel and their families will miss a paycheck because of this shutdown; I support immediate negotiations to authorize military pay, which Republicans refuse to allow. This is why we need real bipartisan negotiations to reopen the government & restore lower healthcare costs.
AG James will win yet another battle against a man who has no sense of principle and views revenge as a public policy.
Tish James has been a strong advocate and defender of the law. This cheap attempt at intimidation - joining his prior efforts to bully universities, law firms and late night comedians- will fail on the merits.
This is nothing more than a continuation of the president’s desperate weaponization of our justice system.

I am not fearful — I am fearless.

We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights..
Our constituent services team has been out in the community helping residents with issues related to federal agencies and benefits including last week at the New Rochelle Public Library and today at Senior Law Day. Even with the government shutdown, my offices are open.
We are one week into this government shutdown and no closer to extending the ACA tax credits. When open enrollment starts next month, families will see their premiums more than double. We need bipartisan negotiations now to extend these tax credits and reopen the government.
I spoke with WGCH yesterday about the ongoing shutdown and what failing to extend the ACA tax credits will mean for families. The Big Ugly Bill takes healthcare away from 15 million people. Now millions more could see their ACA premiums double. We cannot let this happen!
My statement commemorating the two year anniversary of the October 7th attacks.
I recently attended a moving ceremony for Paul and Orial Redd. The Redds lived in Rye for over 50 years and were civil rights activists who won a landmark housing discrimination case. With Paul and Orial Redd Way, future generations will be able to learn about and honor the Redds’ legacy.
