Last week, I spoke on the House Floor about the consequences of cuts to the Social Security Administration workforce. Members of our communities rely on these lifesaving services, so I urge my colleagues in Congress to bring this issue to the forefront and reinstate these essential positions.

I led 20 of my House colleagues in sending a letter to Treasury Sec. Bessent and Homeland Security Sec. Noem urging both departments to dedicate resources to planning for the impending SCOTUS decision on the legality of the President’s tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

Republican leadership is unwilling to call a vote to extend the ACA Enhanced Premium Tax credit. They pulled a stunt by passing a bill that did not contain a single word about ACA credits but the Amercians people are not buying it.

I proudly cosponsored and voted for the Protect America’s Workforce Act, which passed in the House this week. This bill repeals Trump’s EO that stripped 1 million federal workers of collective bargaining rights. This will restore rights and I’ll continue to fight this admin’s attacks on workers.

The Trump Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency is quietly denying us protection from forever chemicals, such as PFAS. Not only is this Administration making our groceries more expensive, but they’re also making them less healthy.

The NY Congressional delegation has urged Trump and USDA to ensure SNAP benefits will be received by New Yorkers without delay. USDA has contingency funds for this exact scenario and has a clear legal obligation do disburse them. The President is making a choice to take food assistance away.

Hurricane Melissa recently made landfall over Jamaica and is a devastating storm. My thoughts are with the people of Jamaica and their family and loved ones in Westchester and the Bronx at this uncertain time. In the coming days, my office is here to assist however we can.
