A great article from Rachel, who really understands the heart and soul of Dad’s work.

Discworld QOTD, from Snuff
Aristocrats don't notice philosophical conundra. They just ignore them. Philosophy includes contemplating the possibility that you might be wrong, sir, and a real aristocrat knows that he is always right. It's not vanity, you understand, it's built-in absolute certainty. They may sometimes be as mad as a hatful of spoons, but they are always definitely and certainly mad.

In fairness, lots of fans have avoided reading the last one, so there’s always one to go.

October 7th – Two Years Later

Today marks two years since the war began in Gaza — 720 days of destruction, loss, and no stability.

Before October 7, I was a software engineer, working hard to build a better future.

She probably told on the people who did though.

In Discworld, cities thrive because they welcome dwarfs, trolls, vampires, and humans alike. Ankh-Morpork works because everyone belongs. Funny how fiction can seem more humane than policy sometimes.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

I’m in a cat-based WhatsApp group with Sara, Mark works at the agency that rep me and the lovely @katbrownwrites.com has interviewed both Rob and I, and has really become the Discworld interviewer of choice 😁

GNU Jilly Cooper. Jilly and dad were friends and the only person I’ve known to call him ‘Tel’. Hope they’re both having a big drink somewhere.

In honor of National Poetry Day, the greatest parody rewrite of all time:
Screen cap of parodic version of William Blake's "The Tyger" that begins:
Tyger! Tyger! Burning bright
(Not sure if I spelled that right)
What immortal hand or eye
Could fashion such a stripy guy?
What the hammer that hath hewn it
Into such a chonky unit?
Did who made the lamb make thee,
Or an external franchisee?

The Hampstead ponds have REPEATEDLY voted to include trans women. But the officious pricks at Sex Matters don’t care what other women think and are forcing a public consultation anyway. Throw the ponds some support.

🚨 Consultation survey launched on whether trans people should be able to access Hampstead Heath ladies' pond following Supreme Court ruling

The consultation is open until 12:00 on Tuesday 25th November 2025.

The Gender Critical have already inundated this survey with their disgusting views on banning trans people from using the ponds.

Would be a shame if we inundated with trans positive views on not banning trans people.

A perfect match. There’s a rhythm to Victoria Woods’ writing and her Pam Ayers style use of language, which Patricia really nails.
