Shutdown dynamic mentality a from one Senate Dem aide, sent my way: “Their calculus was that Democrats would cave early without any negotiation from their end because we want ‘more government.’ But, as it turns out, they’re in power and we won’t fix their messes for them all the time”

It's odd for me to realize that my first-year undergraduates are at an age where they don't really remember that there was a form of US politics prior to Donald Trump. For them, Trump is not an aberration from the normal course of political discourse, but just how US politics is done.

The evidence he was probably hoping no one would ever see... if he ever actually thought about it at all. It feels as though people are all just props or action figures in his mind.
Trump’s victims are now washing up in Trinidad:
“The U.S. campaign targeting what it says is drug trafficking from Venezuela has exposed Trinidad to the fallout: unidentified bodies with burn marks and missing limbs showing up in its territory.“

Everything is an emergency to them except real emergencies
“.. perhaps the most cruel and unlawful offense the Trump administration has perpetrated yet — freezing funding already enacted into law to feed hungry Americans while he shovels tens of billions of dollars .. to Argentina and into his ballroom.”

Wow! Very impressive for them to do all of this in 2020 while Trump was president and they weren't in the government! Very normal post from the President of the United States!

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 81st day out of the last 93.

12 days of work in over 3 months.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.
The White House is no longer the people’s house. Now it’s just another private club for Donald Trump. If he could add a golf course, you know he’d do it.

WOW: The White House says the president's MAIN PRIORITY is his BALLROOM. SNAP is ending. Subsidies for health care are gong to double and in some instances quadruple plan premiums. The government is shut down. The cost of living is through the roof. And his priority is his ballroom.

Ad: This clip, then cutting to people waiting in food lines, then to Johnson saying he isn't familiar with X, Y, or Z, then cutting to U.S. citizens being arrested by masked goons, then a quote from Roberts and the immunity decision.
Leavitt: "At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority."
Demolish first, submit plans later?? This is what happens when all oversight has been either fired or replaced with loyalists. They ALL work for Trump, not us—and this is no longer the people’s house.

Elitist Dems may not realize it but the #1 issue for hard-working, salt-of-the-earth Americans is ensuring the president has an adequate event space for hosting galas and luncheons

34 people killed in 50 days. Their guilt or innocence unknown, for an alleged crime that doesn't carry a death sentence. That's a lot of death.

Awful: Trump's $230 million shakedown from DOJ can be paid to him confidentially at first, without the public ever finding out about it until later, Rep Jamie Raskin tells me.

Raskin will formally demand full communications between WH and DOJ on this.

New from me:

Trump’s Vile New $230 Million Shakedown of DOJ Just Got Even Worse
It’s bad enough that Trump wants—and DOJ will likely fork over—this tribute payment. Now, get this: It can probably be done at first without even being revealed publicly.

The Pentagon press corps has a new look.

Out are all the major news networks.

In are TurningPoint USA, RedState and a streaming service run by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Pentagon leadership just told officials, including the Joint Chiefs chair, they now need permission before speaking to Congress. The memo dropped the same day reporters walked out over new press restrictions. Checks and balances aren’t checking and balancing.
