The scariest thing about Halloween this year is our school zones. Tell our Mayor to stand up to the goblins who would make our communities less safe.

We don’t have the density outside the core for frequent transit or bike share or bike lanes or sidewalks or….

I guess it’s just cars for everyone, famously the cheapest mode of transportation.
robattrell.bsky.social
I also think the suburbs should get a lot denser.
robattrell.bsky.social
Near transit at least (<5km). I’d love to see it tried. Great last mile solution with the LRT and infrequent buses.
robattrell.bsky.social
I would love to see such a system with hubs and docks all over the city, at the very least all over within 5km from transit stations.

If publicly-owned bike share gets more people moving more efficiently, quickly and healthily through the city, not sure what your concern is. The capital cost is minor compared to other systems, and it may play a big role in diminishing congestion.

Ottawa’s 1st attempt at bike share failed because it was designed for tourists rather than residents. Certainly can’t make that mistake again. But with over 100 North American cities embracing bike share, seems like Ottawa should give it a go, especially considering how short our winters are. 4/

✨New Post✨ The suburban dream sold us the 'freedom to drive,' but it came with a hidden contract: the obligation to own a car for everything. True freedom is about having choices—the choice to walk, bike, or live a full life without a car. #LessCar #Urbanism
The Suburban Dream and Its Hidden Contract: Trading True Freedom for the Freedom to Drive - The New Orleans
Lots of Ottawa residents just like us in the suburbs were sold a very specific dream, maybe even as early as when we were teenagers. Living in the suburbs meant owning a spacious home, having a lush,…

Everyone sneers at people overpaying for cars, but Americans live in such car-centric places that many have no choice. And yes, prices of cars have skyrocketed. Instead of blaming individuals, we should be looking at providing alternatives. Mandatory car ownership is a tax.

Pledged to plant a million trees, but that’s not in the budget either.

As aspirational as the goal is, if it’s not in the budget it’s not there. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

The LRT being closed for maintenance on Panda Game weekend is such a confusing and poor decision.

Ottawa consistently forgets to think of the needs of students and transit riders when making decisions.
