With pertussis (whooping cough), the baby would be protected if mother got vaccinated in her third trimester. Then the baby can get another dose at 2 months. None of the mothers in this story were vaccinated and as a result, their babies died a very painful death (needlessly). Defies logic.

As Max has laid out in some of his other columns, the economics of fossil fuels are bad and getting worse. It doesn't really matter how much LNG export capacity Eby builds, or how big of a pipeline Smith gets - the answer to "how can we most cheaply add a unit of power?" is "solar or wind".
