What a week BlueSky! Welcome new followers! 👋🏻 I mostly post about kids, bikes, & kid-carrying bikes along with climate action and local happenings in Ottawa.

This all ramped up 3.5 years ago, when (in the span of ONE month) I:
- had a (2nd) baby
- got a cargo bike
- was accepted into grad school
4yo: my drawing of a unicorn is ✨amazing✨

Me: what about mine?

4yo: it's good too.

This is so charming. Wins after wins after wins from this guy!
The good news? We’re winning universal childcare faster than anyone expected. The bad news? Ms. Rachel and I have to find some new song inspiration…

Obligatory canal pic. Conditions were better than I expected. Hoping I'll be able to skate to work a couple days this week! ⛸️

Get rid of the second car.
Re-localize your life.
The mundane is transformed into an adventure.
Joy in the everyday is the result. #cargobikelife
New cargo bike day is the best kind of day.

If the law prevents the federal government from acting to stop an obvious emergency, especially when the governments of Ottawa and Ontario had essentially abandoned the city of Ottawa to those hooligans, then the law is the problem, not Trudeau’s actions.

The one exception is Heated Rivalry - I was au courant with that one. 🔥🏒♥️ It's a must watch.
Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse is a stunning film. A treat for the eyes and ears - wow!!

I know that nobody wants to hear it, but I've just done the math again because of a press inquiry: if we go back to 2000' living space per capita of 36m² in Hamburg, 'no' new buildings would have to be built until 2050, despite the growing population.
We need to think about that.

Great turn out to the Speed Gun party on King Edward. Doug Ford has made our communities less safe by canceling speed cameras. Thank you to drivers for respecting the speed limit and the Lower Town community.

3+ days a week. Commute by bike 3+ days a week for better life satisfaction & mental health. Neighbourhood doesn't matter. Weekend spurts don't cut it.

It's a good study: sample size, design, propensity score methods = ✅✅✅.

Municipalities & provinces take note!

Thank you @senatorpaulasimons.bsky.social for your leadership on getting our gov and institutions off x. Powerful words I hope are listened to.

This thread highlighting your Senate colleagues is wonderful. What amazing people I'm happy to be able to hear from.

Thank you all for your service 🇨🇦
This is a very kind wish. But I'd also like to ask you to follow other Canadian senators who are already here, and who haven't been as lucky as I have in connecting with an audience. I convinced a fair few Senate friends to give this platform a try, but many didn't feel it worked for them. #cdnpoli
#canadiansky Let’s get the Senator’s follower numbers up to demonstrate engagement here is good comms strategy.

Why Minnesota? It's not merely the most horrific kind of ill-luck that delivered another caught on video state mandated murder. Minnesota represents a direct assault on the white nationalist narrative & thus claim to power. 🧵

I’m deeply grateful to have the support of David Suzuki. For decades, he’s been a clarion voice on climate, calling on Canada to listen to science, nature, and Indigenous teachings. His fire only burns brighter with time. The hour is late: we need to get to work.

And this isn’t really about Manor Park. It’s the precedent it sets - that complete streets with sidewalks and #VisionZero 30km/hr traffic calming measures in residential neighbourhoods across Ottawa as part of integrated renewal is at risk if Manor Park gets a pass.

One thing I'm seeing from anti-Trump folks is the use of words like stupid, idiots, moron, or the R-word to describe ICE and their supporters.

I really, really wish the centre and left would stop conflating morality and IQ.

When you build a world where kids can't walk anywhere to get candy this is a natural outcome.

Very glad everyone is okay. This is very scary. 😬

The idea of SKATING to a game is quite possibly one of the best things I've heard on a bit. Sadly, the Canal is actually closed tomorrow due to the warm weather.

But putting the SKATE CHECK into my back pocket for the next game.
