My lovely wife grabbed a decent candid photo of me at breakfast this morning in my semi-cosplay (l had my emo Vi jacket on over normal clothing lol)
Me in my black, arcane Vi jacket using my phone

It's feeling increasingly like February 2007 in here

I'm just one person, and my programming needs are somewhat unusual (building various kinds of statistical forecasting models). But I'm just not seeing the consistent productivity gains from LLMs that I would have expected if you'd asked me 6 months ago.

I'm not saying we should be intentionally putting people in boxes to face mob justice, but also this guy was an absolutely abhorrent piece of shit who was entirely unremorseful.

This is included under a story about a pedophile, who the judge commented on his case as "breaking new ground" and "plunging into new depths of depravity", getting shanked by fellow prisoners.

Won't somebody think of the "older men convicted of sexual offences"
The report from the chief inspector of prisons said: "Many prisoners told us they felt unsafe, particularly older men convicted of sexual offences who increasingly shared the prison with a growing cohort of younger prisoners."

It's great how it murders a bunch of cool independent businesses each time too, further cementing the position of the major corporations in society.

Thinking about that time the My Little Pony comics, of all things, absolutely bodied Scott Adams.
Close up of Pinkie Pie looking at a newspaper comic saying “Hmpf. I thought these were supposed to be funny?”

The comic is called Ponybert by Trot Adams. It opens with a building and we see a word balloon that says “Well?” The second panel is of Ponybert, the Dilbert stand-in saying “No one is smart but me.”

Yeah it'll potentially really suck, but ultimately we'll be able to get through the storm. It'll just be another kinda personal financial reset point, which is really starting to get old at this point

Yeah, I was just hoping we could get past the point where my wife and I need to move cross country again. Maybe it'll be like 2008 where everything kinda went to shit in the background for a while before the market allowed it to fully collapse after they had tried to cover themselves a bit?

I don't like how frequently this keeps being brought up now tbh. If it could wait another year before collapsing the world economy *again* that would be great, and not just be another in a series of economic catastrophes that arrive at the perfect time to fuck us over as much as possible

“Concerns over an AI bubble bursting have grown lately, with analysts recently finding that it’s 17 times the size of the dotcom-era bubble and four times bigger than the 2008 financial crisis.”

Hang onto your butts. This “correction” is gonna hurt.

Is that Pope JD Vance in front of a glowing sonnenrad?
Still from the quoted AI video featuring what looks to be JD Vance in some kind Halloween pope costume with a glowing sonnenrad behind him in the all white church like building

Also it only rains in average 80 days per year, but still has higher rainfall totals than London because it likes to go hard when it does rain usually, so no fucking around with drizzle for days on end just a nice quick downpour and back to sun
roisin.bsky.social
I'll do you one better, Western Australia winters. In Perth the average low is 8.1°C in winter, with an average high of 18.5°C, and when it does get hot in summer the heat is dry as, and you usually get a cooling sea breeze from about 2-3pm every day

They should make winter less dark, less cold, and less wet
roisin.bsky.social
The cold dries out my skin and makes it hard to get out of bed and do anything while forcing me to wear more clothes, the dark depletes my vitamin D and makes it impractical to relax outside and means I'm commuting into low sun that wants to blind me constantly.
