NEW: A sculpture is set to arrive at Ave Maria University, honoring the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The piece, designed by Canadian artist Timothy Schmalz, is expected to become part of the university’s permanent art collection early next year.

I showed this to my wife and the reaction was 🤮 (puke emoji). This piece crosses over the line from schmaltz into kitsch, but not ironic, self-aware kitsch. I took a couple of history of art and literary criticism courses in college, which makes me an expert. This is like Kinkade, if Kinkade had done passion pieces.

Windmill Blade Flies 47 Miles Like a Helicopter During Wyoming Wind Event

CASPER, WY - Residents near Glenrock are still scratching their heads after a wind turbine’s top housing unit and blades detached during last week’s powerful windstorm, then reportedly flew 47 miles across the Wyoming plains “like a giant helicopter” before gently crash-landing in a hay field.

According to witnesses, the massive assembly lifted off the tower “spinning like a UFO” before achieving what one rancher described as “the most majestic unauthorized flight since the Wright brothers.” Wyoming Conservation Services arrived on scene shortly after the landing and confirmed no injuries occurred, though one cow allegedly fainted from shock.

Engineers are baffled but impressed. “Normally, these things just snap and crash,” said turbine technician Dale McKinney. “This one achieved sustained flight. If we can figure out how it did that, Wyoming might have just invented wind-powered air travel.”

The farmer who discovered the landed turbine says he plans to keep it as a lawn ornament until someone comes to claim it. “It’s already more reliable than my truck,” he said.

Officials have yet to determine whether the incident will be classified as a mechanical failure, a miracle of aerodynamics, or an unregistered aircraft.

Furloughed federal workers are receiving 60-day RIF (reduction in force) notices now. I don’t know how I feel about this. I resigned my position in February and have been collecting unemployment and looking for another one since. I started work last week, for less pay but hopefully more respect.

And you can’t talk to it like you can with a human revenue agent, or you could if they weren’t furloughed. It’s not a good change, it doesn’t seem so.
But if you don’t pay your taxes, or you don’t file, there’s no limit to how long they can go after what you owe, or what they say you owe.

What I’m hearing is that they plan to replace human revenue agents with AI. Now I’m not sure how this is supposed to work, but certain safeguards exist to protect taxpayers’ rights and privacy. These may not exist with AI. Imagine a faceless computer gives you a bill for back taxes, with no appeal…
