Plus Ezra, John, Hafsa from @transactualuk.bsky.social Kate, Rachael, Emily, Avi, Tash, Claire, Grace, Ella, Timon, Dhiren and Jordan.

You were all superstars. I am so tired in my mind and so weary in my body, but it was worth every ache.
🏳️‍⚧️ You’ve heard of the gender tax, but what about the trans tax?

As young people across the globe return to school, these are the headlines trans youth are seeing 👇
3/ ✨ These options cover all identities, whilst also highlighting the importance of women’s health & rights.

Language makes a huge difference & working with inclusive language takes practise - but there are ways to include everyone, respect everyone & still get the same message across!
2/ ✨ Phrases you can use instead include:

Women & those with a uterus!

Women & those who have periods!

Those who have periods!

Individuals who menstruate!
1/ Instead it places trans men, trans masc, nonbinary & Genderdiverse folks in a category that ultimately misgenders us.. it’s an uncomfortable category to be placed in because the term ‘woman’ is right there, which is a sensitive spot for many folks who are trans+
✨ Recently I’ve seen the uptake in using the term ‘women+’ when discussing period education & rights…

But the reality is that this language is not the inclusive haven many brands using it claim it to be.

The pronoun pipeline is such an underrepresented part of the nonbinary experience 😭
2/ 🏳️‍⚧️ The singular they has been around for a hot minute, & even though it may seem ‘new’ to us & the media, it’s always be there in literature!

Where else have you found the singular they? 👇
1/ One of my favourite comebacks when someone says ‘the singular they isn’t grammatically correct’ is to teach them that actually Shakespeare used the singular they… and so did Jane Austen! 📕
🏳️‍⚧️ I love literature & I love the singular they so I thought this post was perfect!

And that’s not even beginning to touch on trans men & intersex people who can produce eggs.

Seems like someone is reducing people to their anatomy… but unfortunately for JKR, anatomy isn’t binary either! 🤷
🏥 So JK Rowling has said that only women are born with the ability to ‘produce large gametes’ - aka eggs…

But what about women & those who have ovulation disorders, or infertility?

PCOS? Hypothalamic dysfunction? Endometriosis? Damaged fallopian tubes?
