man, someone should really make a game about how miserable/hopeless it is to be a kid right now.

maybe wrap the deeper message in a cutesy card game, maybe have fifth graders discuss society/capitalism/human existence on the playground at school...

I just noticed that Jimmy And The Pulsating Mass - one of the best indie JRPGs I've ever played - is JUST shy of 500 reviews and the Overwhelmingly Positive rating.

We should make that happen. One of the best Earthbound-inspired games I've played while having its own, very strong identity.

I was incredibly lucky to be able to commission Kasey to make some music for my game. Even now, I always look forward to replaying it, just to get to hear his amazing tracks again during some scenes 😍

free game design:

when the game first starts, begin ticking down a timer. give it like 20 hours and label it "judgement" or something. leave it as a small part of the UI at all times. it doesn't even have to do anything

I had to put so many assurances in my game that the computer wasn't cheating, because *every* playtester thought it was XD

Sometimes it feels like a waste of time putting a ton of effort into a part of your game that you know not many players will even get to.

But when somebody actually gets to it and it hits the exact way you wanted it to, it's so worth it 🥰

Yep, no instants. Part of the reason I didn't include them was because I figured that would make the enemy A.I. *even more* complicated, and the game was already 10x its original scope lol
