Before I get to my regular coverage of this episode, I need to point out something that I noticed happened on the English subtitles for this episode that I haven’t seen occur in any other Detective Conan episode on Crunchyroll before this point in time. What I am specifically talking about is the subtitles for the little speech that Conan/Shinichi gives prior to the lyrics of the theme are out of sync on the version of the subtitles that Crunchyroll has.

Valentine’s Day...is still way too far away for me to be making any meaningful comments about it. Look, it’s October, what exactly do you want me to say? Chocolate is delicious? Anyway, with an important holiday like that existing, surely Detective Conan’s gotta celebrate it, right? But how exactly will a show that focuses on murders and kidnappings and whatever other crimes a detective can investigate end up celebrating…

Early Detective Conan is fun. There are so many awesome cases, and the fact that these are being done back in the time of 90s, when technology isn’t as advanced as it is today. While that isn’t necessarily an issue, I think it creates a lot of cases that would likely be way too easy to solve in the modern day.

I genuinely thought that for me to find this series, considering the subpar way that Crunchyroll has labeled their Fall 2025 shows so far, I was gonna have to play "Season 1 Russian Roulette" when looking for this show. So, I ended up lucking out when it seems like that the first simulcast that's going to come every Monday (unless Crunchyroll is running behind like they were on Saturday) …

Yeah, I know, this writeup is coming out much later compared to when my other writeups for this series came out. But the wait for me to be able to watch this episode was pain! Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with needing to look through multiple entries that are labeled as "Season 1" just to find it, but I still dislike how long I ultimately had to wait just to see it!

Yeah, I know, the numbering I did for this episode is odd. But I'm not gonna let you guys be as caught off guard as I was with how this episode was...ordered? Is that the proper terminology that I should be using here? Look, I don't know, my brain is scrambled eggs at the moment. Or maybe it's sunny side up now.

I’m going to also limit this post to being my thoughts, because this episode is one where I think you not only need to watch the rest of the series, but also the episode itself to truly feel the impact of the episode...and as a result, I don’t want this review to serve as a replacement for watching the episode. Even then, with the writeup I did last week, there wouldn’t be enough for you guys to feel the impact that the episode has.

I'm going to take the translated title as a victory despite the fact that the translation I got from the next episode title reveal thing was off by one letter, as Google Translate doesn't know the context of the series, so it couldn't know that the title was supposed to be related to only one character instead of being connected to multiple.
