Seriously, maybe I will just go buy a quaint little chateau in a smallish French village somewhere in the Loire Valley, and open a little place for people to come hangout and stay when they want to. I cannot tell you how appealing that sounds.

I disagree with you on Axelrod, and to a lesser degree, Begala, from what I remember. Carville is very good at plain talk, though. Dem messaging has frustrated the hell out of me for 40 years.

The GOP absolutely kicks the living shit out of the left on messaging because they understand the importance of keeping it clear and simple. I have said for decades that the GOP consistently underestimates the intelligence of the American public, and Dems consistently overestimate it....

A lot of our culture practices lying by omission. If you can get people to NOT ask the questions, then you don't have to answer them or worry about the status quo changing... which is absolutely the current problem with the leadership of the Democratic Party at present.

It's very windy out, as well as dry, and I think someone a few blocks away is shooting off a bunch of fireworks and I just have to say, not all the children are the future. Some are just fire hazards with limbs.

Absolutely. It's a tragedy we do not teach critical thinking in school anymore, or I think more people would understand how important precision of language is to communication. Perception is truth for 98% if the populace, so don't make it EASY for them to form a negative perception of your effort.

(I find that kind of insistence frustrating in the extreme. It makes accomplishing progress needlessly difficult and shuts out ppl who might otherwise agree with that you are trying to do. It's why I feel they don't actually see themselves as part of a movement, they just want to feel superior.)

Ie., the young user right now lecturing me on why antifa is called antifa, despite having already admitted that most ppl don't know what it means. It's more important to them WHY the movement is called antifa than acknowledging misrepresentation by the right & media is a problem for the movement.

There's nothing wrong with identifying by your movement, but it's really weird to be so married to how you've LABELED it that you rabidly gatekeep that label, even when it's clear that there is a communication issue preventing others from joining and helping you achieve your stated goals.

I think for someone like that, they see themselves as a member of an elite group instead of part of a movement. They don't actually want more people to join and move their goals forward, because that will deprive them of their prestige and superiority. 2/

I very much love when you observe there is a messaging issue with a term like "antifa" or "defund the police," and the people who identify by that term are so enamored of it and married to their identity with it, that they are incapable of acknowledging the problems it creates re: communication. 1/
