Yep. Just turned on John Oliver’s takedown on Bari Weiss and the takeover of CBS News.

You know, to lighten the mood.

Promoting the editor-in-chief's personal side project. Zero named sources in a story that promotes the editor-in-chief's personal political position. Misspelling the subject's name. It took one day for CBS News to become a conservative blog.

The Toronto Star wrote up a history of TO Bike Share, an interesting complement to @stateofthecity.bsky.social's thread on saving Montréal's bike share. TO followed in making it a public system after PBSC went bankrupt. (Plus, adorable bike graphics!)

White people who have spent decades thinking “Born in the USA” is patriotic and “Every Breath You Take” is a great wedding song are suddenly very concerned about not being able to understand lyrics to some songs at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Sign in background cut off, ICE thugs not covering their faces, backgrounds that look off. There are still plenty of tell signs, if you’re looking for them, but it keeps looking more convincing.

This is bad.

Apart from the usual traffic around Barrie, it was a very pleasant drive to visit my parents, one of my siblings, and my nephew in Sudbury. Drove up two other family members from Toronto as well. That, along with a fall drive in Caledon on Friday made for a nice weekend.

Canadian Thanksgiving is just one of the best holidays there is.

Held at a nice time of year, when travel to visit family and friends is still easy.

Relatively low stress.

Little historical baggage (compared with US Thanksgiving).

Great food.

But it does make it easier to provide decent transit. The TTC has issues but it does provide frequent service to most parts of the city.

Look to Brampton and Kingston as good examples too.
