I'm a bit new to being a monster hunter...does anyone else's Palico regularly fantasize about dressing them up? 💦

(A lot of terms below pertain to Monster Hunter Wilds. Temmy and Robyn are both my OCs that exist outside of the game!)

I’ve sssorta been designing a new iteration of myself, leaning into the idea of royalty, in ssspecific: Cursed Royalty

Ssso have thisss fusion,,

A fusion of Serperior and Cofagrigus. She has golden markings, and the curls along her body can unfurl into ghostly arms and hands. She has an additional pair of ghostly arms/hands from her back. Her eyes can darken to resemble that of a Cofagrigus.

And here’s sssome lore I have for her ssso far!

Beatrice was born to a life of opulence, of a lineage who ruled over a vast kingdom and bathed in immeasurable wealth. She was raised by her mother from birth to inherit the crown, a role she seemed born for when she hatched from her egg with golden markings, as though royalty was in her very blood.

However, that blessing held a hidden curse.

These golden markings were not from her royalty, but a forbidden affair between the Queen and an envoy from a neighboring empire, a Cofagrigus, amidst tensions between the two nations. Born out of wedlock and adultery, Beatrice’s real origin was kept hidden from the Queen’s husband and the kingdom at large, at risk of sparking war and the fall of the monarchy. From birth, she was taught to hide her true nature, as besides her golden markings, her ghostlier qualities were a curse that had to be hidden from the world at all costs. Hence, her public appearances were rarer than most in her lineage, justified as a requirement for her protection.

Even with her secret hidden from the general populace, she was still surrounded by mystery and intrigue, with a hint of fear as rumors surfaced from her inner circle.

As she grew up, besides her golden markings, she had larger fangs, and spectral hands she could summon at will. Her eyes, while retaining the regal glare of which Serperior are notorious for, were often described by caretakers and maids as leaving them feeling “hollow,” as though they pierced into their very souls and took something they could not get back. Once, an artist summoned to an exclusive audience to paint her portrait came away from the experience “changed,” and not even a year later, took his own life. His suicide could not be fully linked to his experience with Beatrice, but his painting, on display within the public sections of the palace, leave many with that very same hollow feeling, with some getting the feeling that they were truly being watched through the eyes of the portrait…

On the night of her twentieth birthday, a loud crash would sound out from within the palace as an assassin jumped out through the window of Beatrice’s room. Upon discovery, he promptly turned himself in, going so far as to request to be executed, refusing to comment on his reasons or failure to assassinate Beatrice until the very moment of his death, where he professed: “I would sooner hang than live with the memory of what I witnessed that night.”

Over the next several years, countless forgeries would be created of Lady Beatrice’s portrait, spread all throughout the kingdom and even in other nations as the work gained notoriety. Strangely, the higher the quality of the portrait, the more it would give that same uneasy feeling of being watched. The proliferation of these forgeries seemed to give Beatrice eyes everywhere—watching, waiting, taking something from your very soul.
