NOAA hurricane hunters flying aboard a P-3 Orion aircraft ("Kermit") are monitoring Hurricane Melissa as most aircraft steer clear. The storm poses a catastrophic threat to Jamaica and Haiti.

The crew are among the many federal workers working without pay during the US government shutdown.

A map image from the Flight Radar 24 service shows the flight track of a NOAA P-3 Orion aircraft flying over the Caribbean Sea, where Hurricane Melissa threatens to bring catastrophic rain and flooding to Jamaica and Haiti. Most other aircraft appear to be steering clear of the area.

that isn’t why you should support it; you should support it because it is a moral imperative to feed the hungry.

corn! I think that also makes me biased towards them bc I don’t have to be like “DE MAÍZ, NO HARINA” on every order lol (tho thankfully Mexican food is generally much easier to stay gluten free, sometimes it does sneak in especially in places w/ texmex leanings)

yk what you’re right about the second part I think I’ve been exposed to too much patriotism of both kinds around my neighborhood my bad 😔

and yes Salvadoran ones are basically pupusas w/o filling! much thicker and sturdier for ferrying other things into my mouth
