Star Trek should honor Peter David by canonizing Captain Calhoun. I’d love to see a former freedom fighter terrorist turned Starfleet Captain. I’m very much down for that energy - basically if Cassian Andor became a Captain.

Gene Roddenberry wanted to portray nonbinary people in Star Trek before his death, and also depict non-traditional family structures, but admitted he couldn't due to modern-day biases and the influence of capitalism.
