I know exactly when. But there were things that opened the door, for sure.

Stupid, self-serving, selfish, short-sighted cretins. Truly awful people with no moral compass.
I can't understand how a decent country has produced them, but it seems to be a international problem.

Awkward. He always looks as though he needs a desk.

Oh thank something or other that it's not only me.

I wish I could see the end of the road for ACT.

"Performative gobshittery" filed for future use, thank you. Near future probably

Anecdote, sorry. My son has a 1st class honours degree in organic chemistry from the UoA and he is having a fine life in Austria. And by the way UoA, stuff you resoundingly for making the only GenEd paper that fitted his timetable one year German Language.

Low ballot returns in the local government elections so far? That's worrying - but highlighting 'low turnout' can turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Better: show that many are voting, share local examples, and remind people their vote counts. A 🧵 #nzpol

My partner is so jet-lagged that he has just said that he talked to my mother on my phone earlier today. She died suddenly in 1996, so I would have loved to know if she had called me.

Liz Gunn's mother once turned a garden hose on to council tree pruners because they were "pruning" trees in the road she lived on.

I'd be ropeable. Stupid is an understatement.

My partner complained for years that I bought (Whittakers) chocolate for our kids. They have left home, and now he is rummaging in the cupboard for chocolate. It's sad.

That's a crappy thing to do. Uni costs money and adds debt. The least they can do is be consistent.
