They gonna have to spend so much money to prevent model collapse they might fuck around and develop a useful product (a way to identify human content and pay people for it).

By “will likely need humans”, I mean either manually sifting out the worst AI content, or, even better, by white-listing sources, both of which require human employees AND provide value to content producers using humans.

Wow, the era of model collapse is here earlier than I expected. What’s great is that the only way to prevent model collapse is sorting and using human-produced content, a task that:

- isn’t easy for AI to automate;
- will likely need to be done by humans;
- makes human-made content more valuable

Over half of all articles on the Internet are now written by AI

I am actually amazed that, as good as Skjnner looked for the most part, the Rangers weren’t able to produce a single goal from all their chances.

Elon doesn’t deserve “credit” for this, because it’s absolutely accidental, but he’s clearly positioned his product for shitty reply guys, people whose entire “real life” is online, and horny losers who want some weird waifu mommy that doesn’t ask them to grow up.

And it turns out…that’s the market

The whole AI sales pitch to businesses is about productivity and reduced costs. But to sell it to real people, the leader in the space is reduced to publicly promising how they’re going to make it more fuckable. That doesn’t exactly scream confidence.

The world really was easier for dumb folks then. If someone was on 17 different types of steroids and eating a diet of raw chicken testicles and whale bone marrow to maintain mass, you’d just assume they were a very skilled warrior. These days you have to guess if skinny dudes and chicks can fight.

It’s not like the writers just called him “major”, wrote a scene telling us he’s the best, and threw in a few random “remember that war that we did in that place” lines to fill in the gaps. We had to learn exactly where he developed his trap-making skills in order to truly understand his prowess.

I very clearly remember sitting through 30 minutes of backstory about how Major Alan “Dutch” Schaeffer was an Eagle Scout that went to Harvey Mudd College before he joined the Army. After that I was allowed to see the story of his merry troupe of large men fight an invisible alien trophy hunter.

Repetition IS part of it. You still see plenty of “Jewish Space Laser” stuff around. Or even the Trump taco bowls. I think the sheer volume of terrible actions with MAGA world leaves it harder to repeatedly obsess over any given one. But not living for resentment is probably a pretty big factor.

It would be interesting to consider in light of things like Marjorie Taylor Greene occasionally being on the right side of an issue and people on the putative left seeking to praise her or suggest she’s turned a new leaf. Some seek commonality with horrible people, they prefer conflict and othering.

Maybe even to someone outside his companies…

The Bills/Patriots Week 15 matchup may need to be flexed into a better slot. The Patriots end their season against three teams that have a combined record of 2-16 and they own the tiebreaker now.

Watching the NFL this season is a great reminder why I never took up sports gambling. The Bills just lost to an Atlanta team that got shut out by the Panthers. The same Panthers the Bills play next.

My favorite shot today came before sunset, just before golden hour where there's a little bit of a gold reflection on the sand. This is the frame before the first shot I posted today where you can see the bird's wing slightly touch the ground. I might be able to add this a little bit better at home

Can’t wait for Tesla to buy xAI when it runs out of venture capital money. Which is when the Tesla app gets deprecated and is installed as part of X, the everything app. Just don’t criticize Musk or your car gets bricked.

Honestly, I think there’s a lot of money left on the table by Microsoft/Apple/Google by not picking up on the people paying for privacy-focused versions of these apps. They have the infrastructure and the experience. And I think if you do it right, you could get a lot from a crossover w/ enterprises

I really like the Proton suite, but two things it needs are a browser and a web search. Paying for Kagi is something I happily do, but I’d be a lot happier if it was part of a larger suite. A big problem in replacing Google/Microsoft is that you have to go so many different places for the basics.

They must be thinking big time if they’re poaching talent from the bigger streaming companies. I just don’t understand why they’d start with the HBO branding braintrust.

“Please don’t do something stupid that will only harm yourself and the people you want to support”

- definitely a cop

“Hey screw you. If people who want to fight ICE (like me) want to go to jail and accomplish nothing but harm for people fighting ICE, that’s their right.”

- definitely not a cop

My motivations for laughing at the person you’re presenting yourself to be online for no particular reason doesn’t change the fact that you could choose to be anyone you want and this weird shit is what you landed on.

It’s a half-wit’s way of deflecting criticism. Another choice you decided to make
