You’ll notice that new developments in generative AI are always accompanied by new ways of depicting women without their consent—undermining their autonomy and harassing them—almost like it’s a pillar of the technology and its evolution

a real movie that is not like dry-ass sex like strange days is they live
spacedaddy.bsky.social
i'm normal about most movie opinions but strange days causes visceral hatred in me.
spacedaddy.bsky.social

Also sounds like Bigelow doesn’t really get the whole “art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable” thing

There's a straight line from Kathryn Bigelow to Taylor Sheridan and I'm ultra-ambivalent about it.

Not is only strange days evil it’s also limp like the driest worst sex you’ll have the set ups never go anywhere the hints of voyeuarism and hologram fantasies are barely there
spacedaddy.bsky.social
it is so fucking evil maybe being brutalized by the police makes me too much of a baby to watch this!
spacedaddy.bsky.social
the point of this movie is so evil the fact that it is inspired by rodney king riots and bigelow says "i had to make this movie to show that the system never fails!"

sorry cool i will make a video about this b/c i havent slept and kathryn bigelow caused me trauma with this
also
this review
hrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm. i think kathryn bigelow is a great technical director and the pov camera stuff in this movie is incredible. i think it’s a good thriller and a fantastic idea and i wish it was more of a hit. i even think i really like the script. i just don’t think i like kathryn bigelow’s work. i wish she weren’t so fascinated with depicting grotesque, militarized violence against the marginalized, especially people of color, and if you’re gonna try and “that’s the point”-me you can kick rocks. i don’t like it! have watched plenty of other filmmakers follow similar threads without feeling my stomach sink or sensing a perverse sort of a fascination in the violence like a child magnifying ants in the sun. aside from that, i think the final scene of this movie with the cops is… bad? both from a sociological standpoint and a narrative one. also the editing on the confession scene made me want to scream, what’s going on there. wonder how many times bradley cooper has had to clarify he’s not in this movie.

whaat the fuck are you talking about i feel like a psychops b/c everyone believes this garbage movie actually is something

It's about time Strange Days finally begins getting the retrospective love and respect it deserves. To me, it's the best pre-Matrix cyberpunk film other than Blade Runner and Robocop, and still better than most cyberpunk films made since.

30 years ago, Katherine Bigelow made a sci-fi flop that changed her career for the better
Strange Days is a noir-soaked science-fiction thriller set against a backdrop of racial tension, police brutality, sexual assault, and disruptive tech

that's the entire film also her career should've been ruined she's evil
dsaverthandi.bsky.social
I dunno, "there's a tape of the cops that could bring down everything" feels a little dated.

But Strange Days still whips, slaps and bangs.
spacedaddy.bsky.social
this movie is hot garbage
spacedaddy.bsky.social
this is psychops i fucking hate this movie this movie is so fucking bad oh my god yeah the movie where angela bassett gets to be shot glorified being beaten by the police only for the two good white men save her the two good apples of the police
srirachachau.bsky.social
This is an amazing movie, incredibly prescient, absolutely the best Bigelow movie imo

It's been 22 days since Adelita Grijalva was elected by the people of Arizona's seventh congressional district to represent them in Congress.

Mike Johnson still refuses to swear her in. At what point will political reporters start calling this a constitutional crisis?

Certainly! That was my mistake. I didn't realize that the target I selected was an elementary school, not a self propelled artillery piece. The next missile target I select should be correct.
