With Armand & Lestat we see the opposite phenomenon - downplaying/hiding the true scope of their powers so as not to scare others off (especially Louis), but also to always have a trick up their sleeve just in case.

True, plus for Louis & Claudia it's also a question of survival, especially after they both understand their powers are weak by most vampire standards. Her ferociousness & his loose cannon behavior are meant to compensate for that.

Also important to remember that our perception of Claudia comes mainly from her grieving father, who still thinks of her as his little baby, and from Claudia's diaries which are subjective & possibly not entirely truthful. The Claudia propaganda is deliberate (and I am not immune 💔)
