Excellent book by @neurograce.bsky.social , accessible but not dumbed down. The math takes a back seat during a tour of important historic and current research in neuroscience. Even if you know parts of the story you may find new insights and connections. GL has a good nose for neurononsense.

@sanders.senate.gov: "No, Speaker Johnson, the #NoKings Rally on October 18th is not a 'hate America' rally. ... It’s a rally of millions of people who believe in American freedom and are not going to allow you and President Trump to turn us into an authoritarian country."

“Are these tariffs ‘Liberation Day 2’?” Or will we get another ‘TACO Tuesday?’

This is how we all talk now. Absurd. 🌮

Hey, you idiotic propagandists at the New York Post:

God Bless America isn't the national anthem. It's a SHOW TUNE written by Irving Berlin.

A rare admission from the administration that policy choices have knock-off effects.

In this case: immigration crackdowns raise your grocery bill.

Never forget this: The forces rigging our economy, undermining our democracy, polluting our planet, and stoking hatred are counting on you to give up. Cynicism is how they win. Stay clear-eyed and ready for the fight ahead.

So if Russ Vought and Bob Kennedy were deliberately trying on behalf of an enemy to sicken and kill Americans by destroying the public health structure - what would they be doing differently?

The image presents a bold and provocative statement with a minimalist design. It features the word "FUCK" in uppercase black letters at the top, followed by "NIXON," which is crossed out with two black lines, visually negating the name. Below this is a blue circular arrow, symbolizing repetition or a cycle, and beneath this symbol, the word "TRUMP" appears in the same bold black uppercase font. At the very bottom, in smaller lettering, the phrase "I AM THAT OLD" is printed.

The visual composition uses stark black text against a white background, making the message clear and unambiguous. The blue circular arrow acts as a visual metaphor indicating a cycle or return, suggesting that the speaker has experienced both political figures, Nixon and Trump, and implying a repetition of controversial presidencies. Symbolically, this image comments on political disillusionment across generations, emphasizing the speaker's age by stating "I AM THAT OLD," which connects the eras of Nixon and Trump with a sentiment of frustration or dissent.

This image wields both simplicity and sharpness to evoke reflection on historical and current political climates, using repetition and negation as its main artistic devices.

The great actress Diane Keaton has left us at the age of 79. Too soon to say good-bye to the woman who made us smile at the quirky Annie Hall, and who broke our hearts in Reds. Your charm and talent will be sorely missed.
