Yup! Fascist propaganda, not just for your uncle in Utah with all the guns any longer!
OTOH, when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, we had right wing newsletters, Rush Limbaugh, Cleon Skousen books. I’ve been hearing fascist propaganda my entire life. I think it’s largely a function of the community you are raised in. But it’s gotten much, much worse with the digital age.
The world is more graceful when folks use cousin to refer to pretty much any community member around their age, uncle or aunt for those their parent's age, and grandfather or grandmother for the old folks.

Oh hey, a reason to be hopeful: groves of American chestnut trees have once again become self-reproducing in the wild.

Turned off comments so 12 people don't show up to tell me why this is actually very sad. Be happy, you assholes.
Nearly a Century Ago, American Chestnut Trees Died Off. Now, Hikers Can Walk Among Them Again.
Efforts to restore the American chestnut comprise "one of the most epic conservation stories ever told.”

I've built a socioeconomic system that depends on everyone to do useful work and act ethically except the people at the top, who get unimaginable rewards for being antisocial frauds and criminals. And I think it will stand the test of time

I know from personal experience what Jamaicans are going through tonight. It’s impossible to fully describe, but I’ll try.
At 19, I moved to the island of Guadeloupe shortly before it was hit by Hurricane Hugo, a category 5 monster.
We were lucky enough to live in the tallest building…1/15

The Emperor of Japan personally endowed him with a secret mission to give America hope again.
It’s going to continue until they release the Epstein files.
They’re not up, they’re having breakfast.
They’re gonna play this game until they release the Epstein files.
The sun is halfway across the Atlantic and on the West Coast they are still playing baseball.
God turned his eyes from Los Angeles a long time ago. That’s why it’s so great.
You know who’s really enjoying this? The Japanese, where it’s a lovely autumn afternoon, tomorrow.
Echo Park nimbys are gonna be calling in noise complaints as soon as 11:00PM hits.
So Jamaica is on its own. It’s going to be an awful night. I know what they are go through, but I don’t know how they will survive this. It will put them back for a generation. West Indians are tough, resilient, brilliant people. But it breaks my heart that tonight, they are on their own. 15/15
But Jamaica has no such support. It’s not a wealthy place, and no one is staging a post-Melissa rescue. In a previous age, America would have led the charge to help out our devastated southern neighbor, but no one expects the white supremacist movement in charge in Washington do to so. 14/15
were flooding in. The Mitterrand government had staged a massive relief effort at French Guiana, and relief arrived in short order, so unlike the drowning of New Orleans. Say what you will about French bureaucracy—what a saw that month was government in right action. 13/15
But Guadeloupe had one great advantage. It’s part of France, the same way Hawaii is part of the US. The afternoon after the hurricane, I looked up into the sky to see a row of French Air Force cargo planes lined up for the airport. The next day, there was a soldier on the corner and supplies… 12/15
