That new Metaphor collector's cup is enough incentive for me to get off from my ass and go to RoundOne next week

When you also get mind bending art like this that accurately depicts the maze and steps of being a parent just adds to the sincerity of the comic

Still thinking about this moment, the whole issue itself and the later issues in this Spider-Woman run. There's a lot of sincerity and maturity in how this story depicts motherhood and companionship that makes me feel really warm and emotional. Hopeless' Spider-Woman isn't talked about enough.

I feel a part of it is also just her new design in this run (which is an awesome design and evolution to the character) but also some mfs are so weird when super hero women don't look sexy

Predator

I love how this movie slowly transforms from a 80s military action movie to tense sci-fi horror. A movie that really twists what was the popular genre at the time. That scene where it's the Predator shooting the laser at night with the sparks everywhere is just peak cinema for me.

Spider-Woman by Dennis Hopeless

This run starts a little awkwardly with the Spider-verse tie ins, but once that's over it's amazing from there. This is the best that Jessica Drew has been written and has such a compelling arc of motherhood and genuine love. Also Javier Rodriguez's art is amazing

Been reading a lot of marvel since I've been using the unlimited app when I'm at work, but I think the next comics that I'm going to read are going to be pure DC

Peacemaker Season 2

I can already feel this season is going to have mixed reactions just based on what happens in this season, and honestly I love the slower emotional character driven direction this season took. That season finale had some heartbreaking moments

While the Darth Vader comic by Kieron Gillen doesn’t focus specifically on Vader’s past with R2 and C3, the theme of that run is centered around droids and mechanization in general

Honestly the most interesting thing about these two is how they bring an unnerving aspect that you don’t usually see in droids. Don’t want to spoil how exactly they’re written but 000 specifically is pure dark comedy

Wait this guy is raw af, I love the quirky droids of Star Wars

Sometimes I think about how one of the best additions to Star Wars is 000 from the Darth Vader comic which is basically “C3P0 if they were fucked up and evil” who is accompanied by BT-1 who is also “R2D2 if they were fucked up and evil”

Secret Avengers

It's super interesting seeing how the 4 different creative teams did their own take on the concept of this group of characters, with Rick Remender's time on the book being my favorite out of all of them. Easily the best avengers run during the early 2010s

Avengers and New Avengers by Brian Michael Bendis

This era of Avengers after Siege is a bit of a mess and all over the place in terms of plot and characters. Certainly feels like a long epilogue for Bendis' New Avengers with nothing too noteworthy about it other than transitioning to the next run.

Here's Triple-Zero pitching Vader the robot-midichlorian-vampires idea earlier. Vader's next beat is to send him flying. No, Triple-Zero, No.

I'm reminded of this scene I wrote in Darth Vader, which is born of me pitching "Okay - the reason Droids don't generally beat humans in Star Wars is they don't have blood, as that's where midichlorians are. So, how about syringe-powered vampire robots?" and (rightfully) being told no, kieron, no.
Page from Darth Vader 19, drawn by Salva Larocca. Triple Zero makes a speech to scare the humans attacking teh robots, claiming all the robots are definitely NOT vampires.

Bill Mather’s hauntingly beautiful matte painting of Gotham City for BATMAN RETURNS (1992). Flawless.
A snow-covered Gotham skyline at nighttime with the Gotham Zoo in the foreground. Black space in the middle of painting for projection.
