Also, the whole "well, I was making a display, and these were just the only uniforms I happened to have" turns very very dark when you realise they were LSSAH specifically.

Geez, and I thought it was dark before!
Honestly, I'd actually managed to miss that sentence mentioning they were LSSAH specifically, but the more you look into who they were, the more unequivocally awful this becomes... on the part of Stuff as ~well~ as the thing they're reporting on.
... which was riffing off a similarly named functional and spiritual predecessor, which was there to provide the muscle and bodyguard at the 1923 Munich Putsch itself.

Not at all a bloodthirsty, evil fanatic of the Fuhrer. Just a normal kinda guy doing the war things he had to, following orders.
Nothing to see here... just a totally ordinary German chilling during the war.

... in his uniform of a particularly brutal, cultish section of the Waffen SS, with each member having personally sworn allegiance to Hitler himself.

... which lead just about every major Nazi action leading to WW2.
Does Aus have it's problems? Absolutely. I'm sure it does.

Is Aus all sunshine and rainbows? Nope - it's got it's fair share of rain and flame as well.

Are the attachments to the AoNZ people thought they knew a lessening hinderance to people leaving our struggling and underpaid economy? Seems so!
In a few short years, we've apparently gone from a society espousing values like "a fair go for all, and lets treat each other decently", to ...

*checks notes*

... both-sidesing the Waffen SS.

I'm starting to understand why the bigger salaries in Aus have finally started attracting so many of us.
But even without all that...

"It is possible to respect and value the place of the Mãori language and culture without artificially inserting it into every part of life."

To which I ask: Are Māori students an everyday part of NZ school life/classrooms?

Good. Then it's not "artificial".
If he's had heaps of calls from parents worried that their child's education might involve a karakia, but hasn't had heaps of calls from parents worried he might have been snapchatting students while shielding Tim Jago from consequence...

... well, I've less confidence in their parental concerns.
This government is ~astoundingly~ good at cost blow-outs on transport projects that fit its ideological agenda.

Almost as good as they are at pissing money up against a wall for absolutely nothing, just to create a stink about their opposition and claim undue credit for themselves.
Wild to have a Government simultaneously claiming they *can't* pay essential public servants more because they just don't have the money, but also being hyped to drop $18b on a road.

They are fundamentally unserious people.
The Northern Expressway we were told would cost $10 billion is now priced at $18 billion, or six times the Cook Strait crossing we were told was unaffordable. This is fantasy stuff. www.nzherald.co.nz/northern-adv...
So basically, if we're building RoNS, then a comparison of business case ratios says that we should ~definitely~ be building that cycle bridge.

I look forward to riding this new cycle connection :)
This isn't the first time that a National Government has made the eradication of an invasive biological species that much harder through a half-arsed response, is it?

Behind the anti-gender movement is a religious ideology that holds that human sexuality only exists for (white Christian) procreation & propagation.

Once you understand that it all makes sense why they attack:
- trans ppl
- LGBT
- Abortion
- Contraception
- Dignity in dying
- Surrogacy
- Sex work

Absolutely. And in the environment of the Reich, you very much do have to give it to those antifa...

... while not at all giving an inch to the Nazis. We had a whole war that clearly decided as much, where an awful lot of good people died on one side of it.
Out of curiosity, Ben, where does the BCR or 0.33 come from? I'm actually finding a it a bit hard to cut through the crap, especially given that they way BCR was calculated changed to make the result more favourable at some point.

I want to compare with the cancelled cycle bridge project :p
There were indeed good people on both sides…

… and on the Nazi side of it they referred to them as political enemies, dissidents, terrorists and resistance groups, hunting them down for torture and execution accordingly.

it's utterly wild how the Heritage Foundation president talks about other people

if you found a guy talking like this outside, you'd probably call the cops
I love the bit in the article asserting that a big activist company like Ben and Jerries would have no need to concern itself about provision of toilets or some such... just above a picture of a Ben and Jerries cafe.

Someone at that publication saw through the BS, it appears.
"The two opposing strong vibes in UK politics are best represented by the racism party and the anti-racism party...

... but can Keir Starmer be inspired by a football team to work hard and plot a third way to victory?"

That's, errrr, is a VERY weird take.

$300 of benefits to every $1 spent. That is the Benefit Cost Ratio of Bike lanes supporting bikes in urban areas.

$0.33 of benefits to every $1 spent. That is the BCR of 15 of the 17 Roads of National Significance

Forget EVs. Cycling is revolutionising transport

Every supermarket express lane I've ever seen has been clogged with those who don't follow the rules yet use it anyway for personal advantage.

I don't see why this one would be any different.
The autistic urge to experience a fair and just world where we all play by the same rules, and don’t go around just chaotically causing pain to each other to gain an unfair personal advantage.

I can see why societies that glorify rampant capitalism wouldn’t value that, or have it pointed out.
To be clear - I literally just watched Trump addressing the press on Air Force 1, stating that "It's a terrible thing" in respect of how the Epstein "situation" has affected the royal family, having been asked about Andrew having been stripped of titles.

He's never had a word to say of the victims.
I wonder what he knows...

... or is Luxon just trying to shine the Bat Signal to Trump?
I feel like this would be a wise and democratically fair approach to the matter.

There should at least be a response to a disallowed special vote to say as much and the reason why - after all, these votes are apparently undergoing enhanced identity and eligibility checks anyway.
