Earlier this year, @kerrianne.bsky.social and I started a book club with friends, both to help encourage ourselves and others to read books that challenge us, but also, ideally, for community-driven difficult conversations that go with those books.
“On your left”

But I love me a good ding ding
Coffee isn’t working at all today. Open to other (legal) suggestions. Just need to get through the end of the month and then things (theoretically) get more manageable.
If yesterday was a Sunday and required nine (?) cups of coffee, what is the appropriate dosage for today, a Monday?

Happy caffeinating to all who observe!

October is always madness—putting on multiple trail races, preparing the next year’s race calendar + registrations, permitting & fiscal reporting, getting ourselves ready for winter, etc—but also we got our first snow yesterday & there’s leftover chili, so all is right with the world.
Possibly, probably, but also? The beer can chicken Pringles (originally purchased as a joke) are decidedly, surprisingly quite good. They were a huge hit at our trail race Saturday.

"anti-AI people should just learn more about it" motherfucker I know so much about it, that's why I'm anti-AI
“I was not born to have abrasions.” @kerrianne.bsky.social just now, reflecting on (her first-ever mountain) bike crash last week.

Claim: 10 cars rammed ICE
Truth: No cars rammed ICE

Claim: She boxed ICE in
Truth: ICE boxed her in

Claim: She shot a rifle at ICE
Truth: She did not have a rifle

Claim: ICE returned fire
Truth: Only ICE fired

Claim: She drove herself to the hospital
Truth: Paramedics found her
I think there’s some truth in that, and that public pushback is somewhere I’d like to personally do more. Have you had much success yourself?
Yeah, the more I think about it the more I think social shaming has to be part of the solution so at least they don't feel safe voicing their bigotry. And the identity piece makes that shaming more difficult.
I legitimately don’t understand how we combat broken brains, an inability to see others, a refusal to accept empathy as a part of the human condition.
Yesterday as I rode by, a man screamed at me to ask “are you one of those trans terrorists?” (Maybe because I have long hair and wore bright colors, including rainbow socks?) I wish I’d been less flustered, had told him no such thing exists. Mostly I keep thinking about how broken some brains are.

Disbanding ICE and prosecuting everyone who led and worked for it is, in fact, the moderate position.
Breaking news from Des Moines: ICE has detained Dr. Ian Roberts, the superintendent of Iowa's largest school district.
The Des Moines Public Schools said "We have no confirmed information as to why Dr. Roberts is being detained or the next potential steps."

The superintendent they just kidnapped is a former Olympic athlete who runs footraces with the kids from his schools while wearing a maroon suit and a bowtie. This is quite simply about the people in power feeling threatened by Black excellence.
This is the man that ICE just detained. This isn't about catching criminals, it is about Ethnic cleansing www.iowapublicradio.org/news-from-np...
5 pm here as a kid unless sports conflicted (which, tbh, they often did), & I still get hungry then now.

But if you call the police and say, "someone stole my bike off my porch," they will ask for serial numbers and pictures and then do nothing.
A 19-yo allegedly rode out of Walmart on a bike he allegedly stole, got stalked by a fucking cop drone and now "faces charges including shoplifting, possession of burglary tools and obstructing an officer, according to police."
The limit for all coffee beverages does not exist
My recovering MCL tear (from June) wishes you all the best
Confirming: Time is still very much an imaginary construct and is only loosely connected to reality these days.
What day is it, even? What is time but an arbitrary construct meant to be broken?

- my to-do lists, probably, assuming they’ve finally* achieved sentience

* especially that thing that’s been on there for going on [redacted] years…
This looks delightful and I hope you plan to have lots more
Today's version looked like cannellini beans, corn, olives, sundried tomatoes, lemon juice, feta, and parsley.
Also when it comes to cold brew, the limit truly does not exist.
Bean salad with chili crisp is truly a lunch of champions.

Whether or not you support political violence won’t change where we’ve come to, nor where we’ve been for some time in this country. I am quite taken aback by how many people only invoke the term ‘political violence’ when it happens to a person with power. It’s political violence the other way too.
