Exactly, and that’s why we need to replace fossil fuels (for energy, refining, everything) reduce energy usage, change our diets, & everything else possible to cut emissions as fast as we’re possibly can, it should have happened decades ago

@robwords.bsky.social have any languages been messed up, similar to English, by the imposition of the Latin alphabet? By comparison, Spanish seems remarkably consistent. Would German be better with runes?

We need steel for structures, copper for transmission cables, aggregate sand & cement for foundations. Lithium for batteries, not just for energy storage but for load balancing and grid frequency. It is, unfortunately, unavoidable

Saying the climate is too complex for tipping points is like saying your body is too complex to die. Complexity doesn’t prevent collapse…..it just gives you more ways to reach it.

My job is to ensure that renewable energy projects have the minimum possible ecological impact.
There is literally no development with zero impact, it is an impossibility.
Therefore your demand for renewables to have none is a de facto argument for status quo pollution.

All power systems need back backup.
There are more technologies than battery

“Wind turbine costs have not come down by anything like as much as solar panels - down just a third or so in the last decade”

Wind farms are the cheapest new energy construction & turbine generating capacity has increased, so LCOE has decreased from ~£82 to ~£50
