For my own organization, my hounds' 3 runs on 4.19.25 (really the last third of the runs; as best I can manage after slipping them, without missing anything). This is their morning run.

Ditto to ABA 'therapy' for autistic kids. It's abuse and only teaches them to mask which will have highly negative mental health impacts later, like suicide.

"Conversion therapy" is a polite name for something that isn’t conversion and isn’t therapy. It’s abuse.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

What jargon does media get wrong in a way that's jarring for you?

"Stat" doesn't just means fast, it means "there is a life-threatening circumstance and I need this to solve it." Nothing in a morgue is 'stat,' just 'asap.'

On a ship, "aye" means "yes." "Aye-aye" means "heard, and I will comply."

Ya, sighthounds are specialists with unique play styles; sometimes they play well with other breeds, sometimes it's less compatible. The speeds they reach can add behavioral complexity and make impacts hit much harder than non-sighthounds expect. Some are so sensitive that they don't like impact.

Everything reminds me of her

Pumpkin us tilted with a Jean, sock and shoe covered leg protruding from its mouth, blood spatter around it and positioned as if caught in the middle of dragging away limb while eating it

ideal conformation or otherwise, and they can get banged up playing with big dogs. I love having 2 the same size and energy level for play! My guys have the opposite problem, too big and powerful to play with most dogs. Heh sorry for all the words, hound conformation fascinates me.

different, and differently sized breeds, that there remains a lot of irregularity in conformation. Many of those I've seen personally are quite steep (which isn't to say they all are) but that could be part of the issue. But small sighthounds are tender and sensitive ...

the borzoi standard just says "sloping," and the sheltie standard is actually really specific, "shoulder blades should slope at a 45-degree angle forward and downward to the shoulder joints;" so they all basically say the same thing. But silkens are such a new breed, coming down from 3 very ...

is more likely to be sore on his forehand after a hard run. This is subtle and not a problem, and keeping him fit with endurance (hiking) as well as sprint (running, playing hard with other dogs) helps, but I notice it. The silken and whippet standards call for a "well laid back" shoulder...

to athletic injury in the shoulder and forehand or soreness after exercise. Trout's shoulder is overly steep; it's a couple degrees up of Mako, whose shoulder angulation is good but not superb. I see the difference in otherwise very similar hounds; Mako is faster and has better endurance, and Trout

My thought is purely speculative, as I've never touched Luka or even looked at a stacked photo, and this isn't something a vet would notice so much as a finer point of conformation that judges and breeders are paying attention to. He may be steep-shouldered, which can result in vulnerability ...

I have a very special sweater that I commissioned a friend to knit, partly from all the yarn I had spun over the years of my dogs' shed fur and partly from heritage breed wool. I forget what I paid her, but it wasn't cheap and her price was fair. It is priceless and very personal, and I love it.
