Posting this in order to pin it for the dopes:

I follow corrupt VP Vance on Bluesky bc I can't very well refute his lies if he's blocked. If that upsets you, then by all means block me. I had to unblock 1000s of MAGA accounts bc VP was on block list. @support.bsky.team should fix, allow overrides.

I have one slight disagreement with this post.

There is at least one story bigger than that of a president instigating a plot to end U.S. democracy.

And that is the story that a president is instigating his *second* plot to end U.S. democracy.
It would also seem like now is the time to test this Federal judge option and not wait until November, 2026.
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social should appear with @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social in front of a Federal judge to swear her in, with lots of news cameras. Then what is Mike Johnson's move? Then it's no longer "I've been too busy" as an excuse. Democrats should apply pressure wherever they can.

Mike Johnson’s refusal to seat Adelita Grijalva is bigger than just Epstein files. He’s laying groundwork to attempt to prevent winning Dems from taking office if House majority up for grabs in Nov 2026, as I told @briantylercohen.bsky.social www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSRY...

Maybe it's time for other governments, or at least some of their more high-profile politicians, to start calling out the Republican do-nothing Congress and tell them to reign in Trump and take back taxing authority. Start restricting them in intel, and travel.

signs like these are up all over Chicago cafes and storefronts (here, cafes in Brighton Park and Back of the Yards) warning ICE not to enter without a judicial warrant
Is this appropriate for an above-the-fold news article? It reads like opinion to me.

We will only get them all back with a Democratic president, after Democratic super-majorities write a ton of new laws to prevent anything like this from happening again, along with a revamped SCOTUS.

So they didn’t like the ad. Let’s just post Reagan’s 5 min speech against tariffs as it appears on YouTube.

Over and over. On all platforms (some of y’all are still on X).

I keep wondering if any members of Congress could be charged with being accomplices. Something!
Another BS headline from WaPo. No indication that this is another step in consolidating and controlling the message, this time from Elon Musk. Cancel your WaPo subscriptions, folks. Nothing in it is worth it in the face of this propaganda and gaslighting. And donate to @wikipedia.org

Those who'd sneer at outrage over the White House fancy themselves slick. Ears to the ground. They don't concern themselves with frippery when there's a war to be won. Well they don't know a goddamn thing. Symbols are powerful, and politics is a game of using them to your advantage.
I canceled all cable news, so I haven't seen Bret Baier in almost a year. Whoa! He has obviously gotten a face-lift and eye work. He looks like Matt Gaetz did.

Update: The Chicago clergy letter decrying ICE's actions and voicing a willingness on the part of clergy to put their "bodies on the line" to protest ICE has reached 250 signatures — and now includes multiple evangelical pastors/leaders of evangelical institutions in the area.
NEW: 200+ Chicago-area clergy — Protestants, Catholics, and evangelicals — have signed a letter decrying ICE's efforts and voicing a willingness to put their "bodies on the line" for migrants.

Trump may have destroyed American history by razing the East Wing, but at least these corporations and rich people get to buy access to the president.

I’ve watched @radiofreetom.bsky.social fight this battle for weeks (months?) now. Can we just agree that democratic backsliding (towards fascism/authoritarianism) is a process, that we are farther along than five years ago, but not as far as some other places?? Binary thinking is just…just don’t 1/
Freer than Greece under the junta, freer than China right now, freer than most countries in the world. Important not to lose sight of that.
A reasonable distinction. We're a country sliding into competitive authoritarianism, but as long as we're still freer than Greece was under the junta - and we are still freer than that - I'm with Tom Nichols on _Trump_, not (yet) the country as a whole, being fascist.

Odds are this aggressively did not happen. But it would of course be just as unconstitutional to spend money donated to the government without a duly enacted appropriation as it is to spend tax money that way.
Trump: "By the way, a friend of mine called us the other day and he said 'I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have because of the Democrat shutdown. I'd like to contribute any shortfall you have with the military.' Today, he sent us a check for $130 million. It's gonna go the military."
But why won't they? How do you get nearly 272 GOP to act as one, even to the point of giving up their own power and relevance? Have they all been threatened, at one of the speeches at their fancy retreats? Blackmail would only work with some. This is where investigative reporting has failed us.
I would like to once again say "Fuck the New York Times".
