#pretendpanel

Terry Pratchett means the world to me, although I was a big fan of his long before he died. His death affected me sharply and the knowledge that there would be no new Discworld weighed on me like a stone.

There are so many ‘what ifs’ based on the unwritten books that ended up under a steamroller. I’ve heard theories Moist was going to be the next Patrician and I can’t finish Raising Steam or Tiffany Aching because that’s it. The end.

And he blames the city that rejected him and the Baron who caused his family's fall from grace so, obviously, revenge.
tarasgeir.bsky.social
His family name was mud and the whole city turned against them. His younger daughter fled and left her sons in the care of their aunt. Grio feels that his birthright was snatched and his right for a comfortable life gone because of the Baron. Of course it wasn't his fault. 3/

Limnel started a quiet life with his daughters and grandson and all was fine until he was accused of causing a life changing hunting accident that disabled the current Baron. That was used as an excuse to seize all Limnel's wealth and destroy his home. Limnel was killed in the incident. 2/

#PlotTober Ah, bit late but Grio has a massive chip on his shoulder and of course it's everyone else's fault.
Backstory: his grandfather, Limnel, and the old Baron were close and together had a reign of terror. Think murder, kidnapping, torture, etc. When the old Baron died Limnel was put aside. 1/

10. What are some potential backstory or contextual reasons for your main character(s) having this kind of personality or behaving this way? In other words, what could have caused them to be the person they are at the start of your WIP?

Remember: Use the #PlotTober hashtag, engage with others, and have fun!

From an untitled sequel to 'First to Fall' about unlikely companions searching for a cure for the plague. Cailo and Oula take a moment to reminisce about Dragaul and enjoy a drink. #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Phwoar! I'd forgotten I planted this aster down the garden, but all of a sudden it is very much making itself known! 😍🌱💚

For this story I use 'mermaid' which is one of my favourites.

Tough love, that’s the term. I was channeling my kids swimming teacher. Grio is fun with his outfits. I’ve been checking out Mr Global 2025 pics for outfit ideas. The formal wear has some great capes. 😉

#AwesomeCharacters

I like Wren because she's snarky, pessimistic, and is always looking for an angle but is also a big softy and has baggage and trust issues but will absolutely shank someone to protect like, 3 people she cares about. Is any of that endearing? I dunno.

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

What is your character's most endearing/compelling trait?

What is something about them that you think will make a reader invested in them and their story?

Is it also the thing you like best about them?

Whilst he’s rare to like people, Cailo is utterly loyal to his friends and secretly admires how positive I’anthal is. Alitzah is the ‘you can swim’ (chucks person into deep end) mentality that can get the best out of others and Oula has a practical solution for everything.
Grio can make a sack sexy.

Beaker is just precious and is my husband’s favourite. He and the Swedish Chef are my runner up faves.

Looks delicious! Any crusty bread on side to dab up what’s left?

safe ✨vibes✨ via a big comfy sweater.

From the short story prequel to my cryptid WIP.

The origin of MC Sam's affinity for 70s clothing, particularly the baggy stuff.

#WIPSnips #TheCryptidOfSunnyside #WriteSky
"And put that sweater back before Greg gets home!" she calls after me. I quickly dart into Miss Mary and Mr. Greg's room, peeling off Mr. Greg's sweater and draping it over the back of his creaky wooden desk chair. He wears sweaters every day; they're big and baggy and brown, and they've been around for longer than I've been alive. I'm not supposed to take them to wear, but I like that they're warm, and I like the texture of them, and I like that they make me feel kind of hidden, like instead of Sam, I'm just a sweater. I could be anything, under a big sweater like this. I could even be some kind of fantastical creature like the Bug Man.

Is it controversial to say I never cared for Miss Piggy?
