A grateful heart is a resilient heart.

#Gratitude is the antidote to suffering. We suffer according to our level of self-pity - or how much we internalise and identify with the bad thing. But you can't feel self-pity and gratitude at the same time - they are opposites! #ChooseJoy 💚 #TinyJoys
A red admiral butterfly - black with red and white markings - showing an amazing blue sheen on its black parts. It's feeding on bright pink buddleia, in sunshine.

Steak at Flat Iron Soho y'day - bad pic as light was low and I was hungry 😆 With bearnaise, truffled macaroni cheese, kale/parmesan salad. Restaurant cramped and ½hr wait to be seated - par for the course in Soho. But food, service & value were amazing! And free ice cream for all on the way out! 😋🍜🍽️
Sliced flat iron steak served alone on a board, medium rare. Pot of bearnaise sauce on the side, and rectangular dishes of mac n cheese and kale salad beyond. Glass of wine, glass of water. Reflective neon-edged SOHO sign suspended high in the street.

Must recommend the superb Handel Hendrix House too - this is where Handel wrote the Messiah and many other famous pieces, and where Hendrix lived when in London. Informative and stimulating tour. We looked in Jimi's mirror and sat on his guest sofa! 😆🎶 handelhendrix.org
A large double harpsichord (with keyboards on two tiers) in a large formal room decorated as it would have been in the 1700s. Rugs on the floor, pictures on the pale grey panelled walls, and a white stone fireplace. A few chairs and music stands ready for rehearsals. A writing bureau and chair, and a large trunk of clothes, in a grey panelled room with bare floorboards and a large gold-framed picture on the wall. On the writing desk are quills, ink bottles, letters and a handwritten musical score. A large bookcase with glass doors - one of few pieces in the museum that probably actually belonged to Handel. Another writing desk beside it, with chair. Jimi Hendrix's bedroom, recreated in situ from photographs from the time. A pink bedspread and an assortment of cushions on the bed (and a guitar of course!) with a fringed white cloth hanging above and wall hangings behind. A mix of rugs on the floor, and jars of ostrich feathers on the mantlepiece, above which hangs the very same mirror that hung here in the sixties. Lots of other bits and pieces too!

It certainly can be difficult - but it is always worth it. Gratitude changes our narrative.

Can't believe I didn't know about the Grant Museum of Zoology until very recently - it's the UCL collection, used in research and teaching since 1828! Lots of bugs, bones, and gross things in jars - I was in my element 😆 Highly recommended! And free! www.ucl.ac.uk/museums-coll...
A display of various bird skulls with different beak shapes. A display of chameleons, mostly freeze-dried I suppose, and one in a jar. Also a skunk, left, and geckos, right. Bones of other animals visible above and behind this shelf. A jar of moles. Yes. Many little mole noses and digging hands in a sea of black fur - morbid and rather sweet at once. Apparently they have their own twitter account... 🤔 A backlit library of slides, featuring all sorts of insects and other invertebrates, and their parts.

30,000 blocked footpaths.

If you come across one, be sure to report to the relevant local authority. Many LA’s do not make it easy to find the footpaths officer’s contact details!

For an effective report see example below. Add OS reference and reference from LA Definitive Map.

A little taste of The Little Unsaid for you. It's an oldie but I absolutely loved hearing this one again yesterday 😊 youtu.be/-Qi3zrZv2WY?... 🎶

Exhausted today after a grand day out yesterday - we had gig tickets in London so we made a day of it! The Grant Museum of Zoology, Handel Hendrix house, and dinner at Flat Iron before seeing The Little Unsaid at the Moth Club, Hackney. All fabulous! Great times! ❤️

View inside the Grant Museum of Zoology, with a glass case of mammal skeletons, and a gallery above with skeletons of large apes and... horses I think. Two adjoining five-storey houses on Bond Street, one painted white and the other in grey brick with red brick dressing. Each has a blue English Heritage plaque. The left-hand one reads Jimi Hendrix 1942-1970, guitarist and song writer, lived here 1968-69. The right-hand one reads George Frideric Handel composer, lived in this house from 1723 and died here. A flat iron steak sliced on a slate. Two sides in enamel dishes above (truffled macaroni cheese and kale/parmesan salad) plus a pot of sauce, a glass of wine and a glass of water. The band onstage, in front of a gold streamer curtain that reads MOTH. There's a singer and guitarist, a drummer, a viola player left, a keyboardist right, and a bassist hiding at the back.

It seems to me that the time is ripe for a Bluesky thread about how—and maybe even why—to befriend crows.

It may not solve all of problems currently facing the world, but I think we can all agree that bringing back gargoyles, mixtapes, and handwritten letters with wax seals would be an important first step.

Age is life. Sickness is life. Death is life. What is old must pass away to make room for the new, and our task, if we want to live well, is to find joy through it all.

We always have this moment. 🍂
