WHOA

Whoa whoa whoa whoa

Uh, hi everybody!

Sorry, been a little busy with family stuff, work stuff, TTRPG stuff, drone stuff, and well... stuff to check in here for a minute.

A lot of you just popped into my followers list! Well, welcome!

I'm Trevor, and I do A LOT of things.

"Text MERCH to 71776 to receive a link to the TPUSA merchandise store."

That's a real interesting choice of a heartwarming message to have in the lower third crawl during a broadcast of a funeral service.

Maher fucking better, because Buena Vista Television (ABC) won against the FCC for "Politically Incorrect" in the 90s for this exact thing and the "equal time" crap that doesn't apply to entertainment/satire/etc. programs.

Looks like the Goebbels x Wessel II collaboration is well on track.

Reminders to folks in California:

It's very difficult to be fired for political views and statements posted on social media.

You can see in the first three that they could have been waiting. The moment the rotors spin up to cause lift, the "Low Battery" warning starts flashing.

That pop-up also happens on a lot of FPVs when under load (i.e. flat out acceleration for a couple seconds) because of rapid draw on the battery.

They're also looking into low-voltage trickle charging for the tethered-style ones.

But these won't sit on the ground for long. They're placed, the FPV op is hidden, and a VO/spotter tells them there's a target available.

And a decent sized FPV drone can sit, turned on, for about 15-20 minutes.

You can frighten and hurt someone with a hardcover book.

While it does have a blade (depending on the tool), it's not a weapon.

Personally (because I'm antagonistic), I don't carry anything to confirm my citizenship because you don't have to carry anything that proves you're a US citizen while in the US.

I do not recommend this at all, but I'm me, so...

Hot damn I can't wait for the Gestapo to see my Chinga LA Migra sticker on the back of my truck next to a scared looking ice cube while I'm flying a drone in DTLA.

PLEASE fucking hassle me.

Getting Disneyland No Fly Zone approval is one of my real gold stars though.

Always! Gotta be safe, especially in major metropolitan areas... which is why my AirHub portal is ridiculously full with operations, LAANC approvals, ATC approvals, etc. and I always have an ever-thickening folder in my truck with every waiver, letter, endorsement, and registration numbers.

Oh that's brilliant.

You are absolutely and totally right.

Always monitoring traffic, always have 3NM lights in nav setup (green/red, etc).

My Matrice is also covered in Hi-Vis yellow, so big & bright yellow. Safe VLOS with all that in a non-obstructed area is juuust a little over .5NM

But I am an extreme exception.

And before a commercial droner brings up FAA regulations, I have CoWs for flying over people, flying over vehicles, and flying from a moving vehicle (which didn't count because we weren't moving), among others.

And if any non-commercial/non-Part 107 hobbyists ever want to ask any questions, do it!

Did I just use a drone to see why the entire freeway is completely stopped about half a mile ahead?

Damn right I did.

(Bad accident, no I didn't take a picture, because that's disgusting.)

Drones are at maximum operational temperature limits (105°F), so looks like we're doing good old fashioned ground surveys without aerial support.

At least the air quality is great!

Party on!
A local weather report showing a current heat index of 102°F, with it topping it at 108°F at 2pm PT.

It also says "Extreme Caution" and "Oppressive", and I can tell you that it ain't lyin'. A local UV Index report showing that there is a high sunburn risk from 11am to 2pm.

The UV scale is from 0-11+ and we're currently at an 8-10. An air quality index showing a lovely and pleasant air quality rating. (Only 34 PM2.5 which is particulate that is 2.5 micrometers in diameter, which can easily enter the lungs.

Only paleo and drone op on this one I'm afraid.

Definitely is testing my overall, well, everything.

Even though it's days of oppressive weather even at 6am, you do get to take amazing drone shots like this.

Now that's fieldwork weather.

I'd cry, but I need to retain the salt.
A daily lookout of weather showing a heat index of 103°F on its way up to 106°F.

It also shows the heat index being 91°F at 11pm.
