We were hard at work finishing the banks at Ettington cutting today. I always seem to forget how long & high they go! 😆 Views are across the site from the roundabout end. #volunteer #conservation @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social
View from top of bank along road verges , volunteers brush cutting & raking. We do both sides of the road. Volunteers seen in distance in banks. Having a 2 min pause from raking. You usually take downhill but then have to take the cuttings back to the top compost piles.

I love a bit of Lenzites betulinus - Birch Mazegill. Easily misidentified from the top, but one look underneath reveals their stunning gill-like pore structure. #FungiFriends

Hidden in the corner of the playing field by Newbold Quarry is recreation glade,we cleared the East facing bank and have been brush cutting and removing arisings for a few years now. The flora and fauna are a sharp contrast to the amenity grassland area....

Most days last week were warm and sunny, giving this Red Admiral a chance to bask in our wildflower meadow.... @norfolkbutterflies.bsky.social
The image shows green cut vegetation with brown, fallen leaves around an insect with dark wings. Its wings have bright red stripes across them and white markings. It is enjoying the mild autumn weather. Most days last week were warm and sunny, giving this Red Admiral a chance to bask in our wildflower meadow.

A small Moth with folded wings, at Lakenheath, was always going to be interesting, so imagine my grief when it escaped - twice!
All was well in the end, and it proved to be a Red Twin-spot Carpet, one which I had not photographed before.
